I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 167

Chapter 167 Lauren's Plan

When Harper witnessed it all with her own eyes, a fleeting pang of pain pricked her heart, but she resisted the urge to seek explanation or disturbance.

With a wry smile, she was about to suggest leaving when Annie beat her to it. "Harper, steer clear of those scumbags. If they're married and still messing around with other women, just dump them. What's the point of keeping them around? With your looks and wealth, you can have any type of guy you want. You don't know how much young guys love someone like you, fit and loaded."

If Annie didn't have the last word, no one could.

Harper's attempt to cover her mouth came too late, and both Benjamin and Lauren heard her unfiltered remarks.

Harper locked eyes with Benjamin briefly, but it was just a fleeting moment before she looked away.

She whispered to Annie, "Are you done? Can we bail now? If we keep this up, we'll have a whole audience, and it's your debut day in Mayby. We might as well trend on social media." Annie hesitated for a heartbeat before acquiescing. "Let's roll. I'll zip it for the day, just for you."

Harper shot her a grateful smile as they walked hand in hand towards the exit. Passing by Benjamin and Lauren, they didn't even spare them a glance, making a beeline for the parking lot. Lauren glanced at Benjamin, who wore a solemn expression and watched Harper leave. She whispered, "Should we explain it to Harper?"

"No need," he replied nonchalantly.

Just then, Curtis pulled up in the car.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Benjamin remained silent, leaning back in his seat with his eyes closed, oblivious to everything.

Lauren's parents noticed and quickly inquired about the situation.

Lauren whispered, "Benjamin's just beat from work."

With that explanation, her parents dropped the subject.

A swift half-hour drive later, they arrived at the hotel. Lauren escorted her parents upstairs while Benjamin calmly declared, "I won't go up. Take good care of your parents."

Lauren nodded appreciatively. "Benjamin, thanks for sorting everything out so smoothly today. You should head back and get some rest!"

With a low murmur of agreement, Benjamin directed Curtis to drive off.

It wasn't until Benjamin's car had disappeared into the distance that Lauren turned to her parents and said, "Let's head upstairs."

Wanda, wearing a worried expression, couldn't help but ask, "Lauren, is Benjamin really going to divorce and marry you?"

A flicker of irritation flashed across Lauren's face, quickly masked by a forced calm. "Of course. Haven't I already assured you that we're definitely getting married? Please, let's not dwell on this."

She adjusted her hat, concealing her emotions. "Let's go upstairs and get some rest. I'm exhausted too. You two enjoy yourselves for a few days, and once I'm done with my work, I'll arrange for you to have a check-up at the hospital."

Her parents nodded silently, obediently following Lauren's lead.

However, instead of joining them upstairs, Lauren watched them enter the hotel before turning on her heel to call her agent for a pick-up.

This scene at the hotel entrance did not go unnoticed by the person seated in the black car parked across the street.

Curtis, in the driver's seat, glanced at Benjamin resting with his eyes closed in the passenger seat and asked in a hushed tone, "Mr. Martin, Ms. Davis didn't go upstairs. Shall we keep waiting?"
