I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 152

The chilly tone of Harper's voice displeased Benjamin. He frowned and said gently, "I don't think these can be excuses for divorce, but are you sure you want to continue talking to me like this? I will believe you if you're coming over right now."

Harper smiled helplessly, "Benjamin, you're still missing the point. This isn't something a simple walk to your car can fix. The real issue is the lack of trust between us. Even if we get through today, what about tomorrow?"

"So you're not coming to my car but going to dinner with Frank instead?"

"I didn't know you were coming, but I've already made plans with him, so I don't want to stand him up."

"Harper!" Benjamin said coldly, "Is this how eager you are to upset me?"

"If you're going to get upset over something so trivial, then I'm at a loss for what to do."

As Harper finished speaking, Frank pulled up in front of her. Through the window, he said, "Harper, get in the car."

She nodded, then glanced instinctively at the black Mercedes parked by the roadside. Benjamin must have heard Frank's words, so Harper simply said, "I'm going for dinner now. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."

Then, there was silence on the other end.

Harper furrowed her brow and ended the call.

She got into the passenger seat, and they drove past before Benjamin. The speed seemed to be faster than usual.

In the car, Frank glanced at Harper from the corner of his eye and whispered, "Harper, did Benjamin come to see you for something?"

"No, it's nothing. I want a divorce, but he refuses," Harper replied, her gaze staring blankly out of the window, devoid of any discernible emotion.

Frank was shocked. He knew Harper's feelings for Benjamin better than anyone, so he was taken aback by her decision to initiate a divorce.

"So, the current situation is that Benjamin doesn't want to let go?" he thought.

Frank narrowed his eyes and probed discreetly. "Harper, why do you want to divorce him? Now that he's openly acknowledging your relationship, it should be good news for you. What's on your mind?" Harper didn't immediately respond, only repeating Frank's question silently in her mind.

Actually, her joy at Benjamin publicly acknowledging their relationship was overshadowed by surprise. She had never considered it a possibility, and when it happened, she was more taken aback than anything else.

She pressed her lips, her words flat. "Perhaps I'm getting greedy. I want more. But he just doesn't want to give me the one thing I want the most."

Harper still hadn't told Frank about her pregnancy. She didn't know why. Perhaps she didn't want to burden him too much.

From that day on, Benjamin never took the initiative to contact Harper.

But they still had some interactions due to work. Harper, Frank, and others would occasionally dine at restaurants the Martin Group used for socializing with clients, and Benjamin sometimes had appointments with clients there. They would meet in the lobby or at the entrance.

However, two or three times in a row, Benjamin acted as if he hadn't seen Harper, not even sparing a glance.

Even Charlie and others realized that something might have happened between them.

But as it was none of their business, they didn't dare to inquire and simply pretended not to notice anything.

This went on for several times until something happened on this day.

Early in the morning, Frank called in a panic. "Harper, something's wrong. The Martin Group has terminated our cooperation."

Harper couldn't believe her ears. "What? Why?"
