I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 144

Chapter 144 Lily's Advice

Lily nodded in understanding, though deep down, she sensed this person might be a bit difficult to deal with. Yet, she refrained from commenting, not wanting to complicate matters for Harper. Upon entering Harper's office, Harper swiftly rose to greet her. "Lily, from now on, just come straight up. You don't need to wait downstairs. If I'm tied up, you can chill here until I'm free." "Can I drop by often?"

"Absolutely."

"Harper, you're the best." Lily beamed at Harper, her affectionate gaze palpable even to Sophia, an outsider.

Mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law were not necessarily sworn enemies, if they could get along well.

Sophia didn't want to intrude, softly saying, "Ms. Mitchell, Mrs. Lily Martin, you two have fun chatting. I'll step out and work."

"Alright, thank you," Lily politely responded.

Sophia left, closing the door behind her, leaving Lily and Harper alone.

Lily unpacked the desserts she brought and said to Harper, "I shared some with the others and saved your favorites. Sit down and have a taste." "Sure." Harper sat down and accepted the cake Lily offered.

Lily glanced around and sighed, "Harper, you're amazing. Am I the first family member to visit your workplace?"

Perhaps she was the first one.

After all, Benjamin's last visit wasn't exactly for sightseeing.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

Harper nodded. "Yes."

"Then I'm really honored. Harper, you're wonderful, and I admire you for this. You're a woman who has her own career, that's simply perfect." Harper smiled, "Lily, if you keep showering me with praise, I might start believing it."

"Of course they're true. Do you think I'd lie to you?"

"Never. I believe you truly admire me."

Harper smiled lightly and savored the cake.

Actually, she wasn't a big fan of sweets, but she felt obliged to indulge a bit considering Lily's thoughtfulness.

After finishing the cake, Harper still needed some time to wrap up her work, so Lily entertained herself while waiting.

Harper worked with such focus that she almost tuned out everything and everyone around her, providing Lily with a perfect opportunity.

Lily raised her phone and filmed Harper, then sent it to Benjamin. "Your wife is hard at work. I suddenly realized how beautiful girls look when they're focused, Benjamin. If you weren't my son, I'd think you didn't deserve Harper."

A mother's words were always straightforward.

She then snapped several photos of Harper and sent them to him. "If you don't hold onto such a wonderful girl, you'll regret it for life. Don't come crying to me then."

After sending a video and a few photos, Lily stopped. It would be awkward if she got caught, and she didn't want Benjamin to blame her later if things went south.

At this moment, Benjamin had no idea his own mother was disapproving of him. He simply looked at the photos and videos on his phone with a tense expression. After a long pause, he finally typed a few words: [There's no 'if's.]

Lily rolled her eyes at his reply, then replied: [Benjamin, I suggest you don't get too confident. Someone as outstanding as Harper must have many admirers. That Frank guy from her company seems to be a top contender. He hasn't been very friendly to me because of you. Be careful not to lose your ground.]

That was an advice from his mother.

Benjamin scoffed and replied: [Do you think he is enough to threaten me?]
