I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 140

Chapter 140 The Truth

Yet, what she cared about were the details.

Despite knowing that she would worry and blame herself, he still did it. He would rather not take medicine and continue to have a fever just to make her feel guilty.

Harper persisted, once again bringing up the matter. "Benjamin, actually, divorce would benefit both of us. You can marry Lauren, and I can live freely."

"Are you thinking for my sake? Should I thank you for that?" Benjamin sneered.

Harper replied, "There's no need for that, as it is something that is best for both of us."

"Since you think I can marry Lauren after the divorce, what about you? Who will you marry after the divorce? Frank or Isaac?" he asked sharply.

"Why must I marry someone after a divorce? I think being alone is fine," Harper retorted.

Benjamin sneered and stared at her with hostility. "So, you're insisting on the divorce?"

"Yes."

"Show me you're serious about it then. Otherwise, why should I agree?" Benjamin said, then turned and walked towards the door.

A few seconds later, there was a loud bang as the door closed, which echoed in the air for a moment.

Harper stood still. After all, this was what she wanted. Only by doing this could she ensure that her child would always be with her.

But somewhere deep inside, there was an indescribable sense of oppression, making it difficult for her to breathe, and even causing her to feel a faint, dull ache. Harper bit her lip, wrestling with her emotions before finally gaining control.

Afterwards, she quickly straightened up the dining table, changed into fresh clothes, and headed off to the office.

Thanks to Benjamin, she had already fallen behind two days on her work. While the progress hadn't suffered, leaving everything to Frank wasn't ideal.

Once she arrived at the office, she sorted through the follow-up tasks and progress of her projects, and it wasn't long before Frank knocked on her door. "Harper, the Mitchell Group just called. They've decided not to collaborate with us anymore due to the delayed response," Frank informed her. Harper had completely forgotten about it, considering she never intended to collaborate in the first place.

So when she heard the news, she simply responded nonchalantly, "We'll respect their decision."

"Yeah. Since your marriage with Benjamin became public, the Mitchell Group has plenty of other options," Frank explained, eyeing Harper closely. Harper glanced at him reflexively as Frank continued speaking in a hushed tone.

"I never planned to make our relationship public, but now that it's out there, there's no turning back," she said with a vacant look and a faint, resigned smile.

Frank furrowed his brow. "But why can't you change it? Do you want to live like this forever, even if he doesn't love you?"

"Frank." Harper's tone grew slightly colder, her expression becoming stiffer. "I know that, so you don't need to remind me about it."

Realizing his mistake, Frank quickly apologized, "Harper, I spoke out of turn. I just don't want you to settle for less..."

"I understand. You can go now. I need to start working." Harper cut him off.

With her dismissal, Frank had no reason to stay in her office, so he left and closed the door behind him.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Harper paused for a moment as a hint of self-deprecation tinged her emotionless face.

Deep down, she knew Frank was right, but she couldn't bring herself to face the truth.

After a brief moment of contemplation, she finally turned on her laptop and typed out two words, which were divorce agreement.
