I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 138

Chapter 138 Pestering Her

Benjamin smirked, and there was a teasing glint in his eyes. "You find me annoying even though I haven't done anything? What if I actually do something? Would you cry then?"Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

His words carried an implicit meaning, and after a moment of delay, Harper finally understood what he meant and felt a blush creeping onto her cheeks.

Subconsciously, she leaned against his chest, but it hardly had any effect.

She silently adjusted her breathing and emotions, then asked calmly, "What exactly do you want?"

"I haven't done anything, and you don't want to kiss me. Am I not allowed to stand here too?" he chuckled softly.

Harper finally understood what he wanted.

He hadn't threatened her with words, but with actions.

After taking a deep breath, Harper stood on tiptoe and pecked his lips.

Her lips were slightly cold, and they barely brushed against his before she prepared to pull away.

Seeing her initiative, his deep eyes filled with warmth, and he immediately took the lead and kissed her back.

The kiss lasted a long time. When Harper was almost out of breath, he finally stopped.

But he didn't let go and buried his head in her neck, his voice husky and low as he said, "I'm hungry."

His hint wasn't lost on her, but she pretended not to understand. "I'll cook spaghetti for you."

"Harper, you know what I mean," he said softly.

"I don't want to."

"You will want to."

Then, without another word, he lifted her up and carried her back to the bedroom.

Harper found herself unable to resist, the memory of their last encounter haunting her thoughts. Knowing she couldn't rely on her menstrual cycle as an excuse every time, she reluctantly complied, urging him to finish off quickly.

But her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of her unborn baby, and Benjamin seemed to sense her distraction.

He held her, his voice low and hoarse as he asked, "Do you feel upset when I touch you?"

"No."

"Then what's with the cold expression?"

"I'm probably just tired."

Scoffing, he pinched her chin and asked, "You're tired from doing nothing?"

"I've been working a lot lately, so I feel a bit tired."

"Just that?"

"Yeah."

She wasn't sure if Benjamin believed her, but he relaxed his grip on her.

Their intimate time concluded close to midnight.

Harper didn't want to move as she was exhausted to the core. She was lying on her side, subconsciously cradling her abdomen as Benjamin pulled the blanket over her and asked softly, "Shall I carry you to take a shower?"

"Not now."

Benjamin didn't insist and left for the bathroom himself.

While he was showering, Harper reached for her phone. She sent a message to Julie and asked a brief question because she was feeling uncertain and worried.

Soon, Julie replied, telling her that everything was fine.

She breathed a sigh of relief and then deleted the conversation, setting her phone aside.

With little energy left, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

It was a night's sleep without dreams, and Harper woke up early the next day.

Seeing the bright sunlight outside, she got up and took a shower then heated some milk. She also prepared some breakfast snacks and side dishes.

After finishing these tasks, she returned to the bedroom.

As she was going to the office today, she needed to bring the design idea she had come up with at home over the past two days to the company. She opened the drawer next to the bed and took out her notebook.

Her eyes inadvertently caught sight of a crumpled piece of paper that had come out with the notebook. She frowned slightly and casually picked it up, intending to throw it in the trash, but she felt something under her fingertips.

She unfolded it and saw what was inside, which momentarily stunned her. Her gaze was gradually turning cold as she read its contents.
