I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 109

Chapter 109 Are You Threatening Me?

Lily glanced at Scott, signaling him not to speak like that, then calmly asked, "Benjamin, you and Harper are still young, there's no rush to have children. If you've really thought it through, wouldn't it be better to discuss it slowly with Harper when you feel ready to commit for life?"

"Discuss? Mom, do you think Harper will just obey? If we're going to have kids eventually, why wait?"

Benjamin's stance was firm, even rebellious.

The more Harper resisted something, the more Benjamin wanted to do it.

Lily replied with a gentle tone, "Having a child isn't about completing a task or making your grandpa happy. Have you thought about whether you're ready to be responsible for a child with Harper now?"

"A year ago, Grandpa wanted me to marry Harper, and you all had no objections. Since I've done as you advised, shouldn't you support my decision now, a year later? Isn't having children a natural part of marriage?"

After finishing his point, Benjamin stood up.

Just as Scott and Lily were about to respond, Harper was here.

Lily quickly said, "Harper, it's getting late. You and Benjamin should head back."

Harper nodded, then looked at Benjamin. He didn't even glance at her and just turned to walk towards the door.

Seeing his actions, Lily whispered, "Harper, don't mind him. I'll have grandpa deal with him later."

Harper gave a faint smile. "Mom, it's okay. We'll head back now."

As Harper stepped out of the house, Benjamin was already in the car, his expression stoic and his deep eyes cold and distant as if they could freeze water. She casually glanced at him, then lowered her gaze, got into the car, and buckled up. The car started moving.

The ride was silent.

Harper had made up her mind as soon as she left Paul's bedroom. This time, she was determined to divorce, undeterred by any incident or accident. She had thought it through clearly.

Back at Pineview Villa, they entered the house one after the other. Benjamin didn't wait for her, prompting Harper to speak up finally. "Benjamin, can we talk?" Benjamin turned around, his handsome face dark and brooding. "Talk about what? About how you don't want to have kids for someone else's sake?"

"If it's not, that's best. But if it is, it won't change my decision."

Benjamin swept a glance expressionlessly at Harper and then started heading upstairs.

Harper, her eyebrows knitted and lips pursed tightly, said, "So you mean you've already decided, regardless of whether I want to or not, that we must have a child?"

"Harper, it's just having a child. Why are you so against it?"

"Because you don't love me, so why should we have a child?"

"And you? Do you love me?"

His gaze bore into her, almost like an accusation.

"So, neither of us loves the other. Are we just having a child to maintain this loveless marriage, or do you have other plans?"

"Do you think I want a child because I have ulterior motives?"

Benjamin scoffed and looked at Harper coldly.

Harper didn't back down. She met his gaze and said coolly, "Isn't it though? Why have you never told me about Lauren and the fertility issues, Benjamin? You keep stressing that I don't trust you, but what about you? Have you ever trusted me?"

Benjamin narrowed his eyes and asked, "How did you know?"
