What is happening to my life?

Why do my eyes have this color? I can not believe what I’m seeing, my eyes were now color gold, damn, my eyes were brown!

“Don’t think too much, Vera,” I came back from my reverie, when I heard Zach’s voice, beside me.

“You can’t tell me that, my eye color just changed, Zach! It wasn’t normal! Do something!” I don’t care if he’s my boss or what, I’ll deal with him later, but for now, I want to know how the fuck will I fix my eyes!

“What will I do? Even I, have no idea what the hell happened to you, I asked you what happen back in the lake, you weren’t being truthful to me!” he was now raising his voice on me.

“Why would I? I don’t personally know you; how will you expect me to be truthful?!” I can’t control my emotions right now, my tears start to flow, and his face changes when he saw me crying, “It all started when I saw you in that state,” I look at him, straight into his eyes, “Are you punishing me? I promise I didn’t intend to see you, I was not afraid, I was just shocked-” I halted when I realized what I just said, my head tilting, “Right, I saw you that night, I saw you becoming your real you, and then-I can’t remember anything, why am I remembering it now?”

Zach’s brow furrowed, “How did you do that?”

“Do what?” I’m totally confused right now, confused about what’s happening, “How did I remember that? Is that really what happen? I thought I met an accident?” my heart starts to beat rapidly, and little by little, puzzle pieces start to create a vivid picture, “You-you made this, you made me forget,”

“It’s for your own safety, Vera. I can’t let any human being discovered about us, especially me, and my clan, we must stay hidden, I have no other choice,”

“You didn’t even ask me! I hate you!” my eyes start to moist again, am I going crazy? I’m a human, right? Why is this happening, odd and absurd ideas start to linger. I stood up, and grabbed my phone to the side table.

“Who are you calling?” he said, while looking at me, “Vera,” There is an odd feeling when he’s calling my name.

“Sydney, my best friend, she’ll accompany me to a doctor-hello? Sy, I need your help, this is really important, can you come over-what the fuck, Zach! Give me back my phone!” I shouted while trying to grab my phone in his hand. I don’t care if I’m being hysterical here, I need to know what’s happening and how to avoid it, as soon as I can.

“Vera, calm down, please, will you?”

“No! no! Give me back my phone, I need to know what’s happening! Give it fucking back to me!”

Both hands held my shoulder and shake me, “Vera! Calm down! I will explain everything, just tell me the truth, what happened that day!”

“No! no! You’re a liar! No! get away from me!”

I heard a loud bang on my door, “Vera! What happen!” I instantly stood up, and run to the door, when I opened it, I hugged Sy, “Hey, easy, hush now, love,” she kept on muttering things to calm me down, “What happened, tell me, I will help you,”

“Sy,” I broke off my hug and looked at her, her eyes widen upon seeing my eyes, “My eyes, it suddenly turns blue, I can perfectly see, and I don’t feel anything bad, but my eyes, why did it turn this way? Please he-Sy? Why are you crying?”

“V-Vera,” I grabbed her hand and pull her inside my apartment, “This is fascinating, seeing it face to face,”

“What are you talking about, Sy? It’s not fascinating, please, help me, what should I-”

“Vera, why did you-Sydney?” Zach was now behind me, my brow furrowed, when he called Sy, as he knew him, to address her like that.

“Vera, why don’t you first get me something to drink? I run from my house to here, at least be a decent human, and offer me something to drink, we will deal with your wonder and gorgeous eyes later,”

I didn’t say anything and just went to my fridge and get her anything to drink, when I came back, Sy was almost bowing, and Zach raised his hand. Sy won’t make any eye contact with him, what the hell is wrong with her? How does she know him, and why does she act like he’s far superior to her?

“Sy, you can sit and rest here,” I told Sy, she nodded, and immediately settled herself, “What can I do with this?”

“First, tell me what, when, how, and where did it happen, so I can identify which solution we should do,”

“Sy, what is he saying? I’m really confused right now, please enlighten me,”

Sy held both of my hands, “Vera, please, believe in every word that you will be hearing,” I nodded, Sy would never lie to me, “Your barrier has been dried off, and your enemies will start to notice your scent, and they will be all coming for you,”

“What? Who? Who’s the enemy?”
