Chapter 258
Bleeding from his stab wound was quickly stopped to prevent fatal damage. However, he did suffer severe blood loss, leaving him in a critical state. After a grueling 24 hours of emergency treatment, he was still clinging to life, struggling on the edge. Dillon was frantic, and the situation looked grim. After a moment's thought, he decided to call Caroline and fill her in on the dire circumstances.
Caroline was stunned when she got the news. She quickly made her way to Oak Falls.
The lights in the emergency room were still on.
"What's going on?" she asked, her voice filled with anxiety.
Dillon could only recount what he witnessed. "The injury is severe. There was so much blood when I got there."
"This is outrageous. It's a deliberate attack." She glanced nervously at the emergency room, her heart pounding. "Did you call the police?"
"No," he answered honestly.
"No?" Caroline was baffled. Dillon wasn't one to miss such a crucial step. "He's been hurt this badly, and you didn't call the police? Are you out of your mind?"
"It's..." Dillon hesitated, lowering his head. "...Mr. Casper didn't want the police involved."
He got stabbed and yet didn't call the police? What was Casper thinking?
Caroline narrowed her eyes. "Does he know the person who stabbed him?"
"It seems so. There were no signs of a struggle at home. I suspect it was..."
"Who do you suspect?" Caroline pressed.
"It must be his wife."
His wife?
Caroline was taken aback. "Which wife?"
"It's Eliza. I think she's the one who stabbed Mr. Casper."
Caroline was floored by the revelation, her mind reeling. "You mean Eliza is still alive? But I saw her ashes buried with my own eyes."
Dillon wasn't sure where to start. "It's a long story. I'll explain later."
"If it really was Eliza who stabbed
him, then he got what he deserved." Caroline suddenly felt a strange sense of relief wash over her. "He should have made amends to Ker. Dying a thousand times wouldn't be enough."
Dillon was stunned. Was this really Casper's sister?
"It's a personal matter between them, and I'm neither a judge nor a
savior. can't and don't want
get involved. If something happens to him, let me know."
With those words, she walked away, her silhouette fading.
Dillon opened his mouth, wanting to say something. "Ms. Caroline, this..."
Did she just... leave...?
Casper's life was hanging by a thread.
Dillon's heart was in his throat.
Doctors and nurses were rushing in and out, there were countless forms to sign, and a critical condition notice had already been issued. Could this really be the end?
A few days later, Dillon knocked on Eliza's door. She saw him, and her first thought was of Casper.
Dillon's face was drawn with exhaustion. "Mrs...."
"I'm not a Mrs.." She cut him off coldly.
Dillon had to change his approach. "Ms. Valerie, I need to talk to you..."
"Yes, I did stab Casper. Go tell the police to arrest me. I'll take responsibility for what I did." She stood firmly in the doorway, not letting Dillon in.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
"I'm not here to accuse you," he said.
Eliza was taken aback. "Then why are you here?"
"Mr. Casper was saved but is still unconscious and in critical condition. We don't know if he'll putt through.Dillon's voice cracked, his eyes brimming with tears. "You don't know how much he's suffered these past three years. How guilty he's felt..."
"Dillon." Eliza interrupted coldly. "If you're here to tell me that, I'm not interested."
