His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 161

Casper being rushed to the hospital became the talk of the town in Falconridge. Everyone was buzzing with rumors and wild guesses about what happened.

Eliza didn't go to the hospital but kept herself updated through the headlines. She knew one thing for sure-Casper was alive. The word on the street was that the knife missed any vital organs. He'd just lost a lot of blood and was pretty weak.

Nova did go to see him, but the Welton family pretty much kicked her out. Watching her hobble out of the hospital on a cane was almost comical.

Chelsea handed Eliza a peeled apple. "Quit stressing over the news. You've got enough going on. Besides, wouldn't that be better for everyone if he dies?"

"Yeah, you're right." Eliza took a bite. The sweet flavor of the apple brought a slight smile to her face.

Chelsea couldn't wrap her head around why Casper took the stab meant for Eliza. "If Casper took a hit for Nova, I'd get it. But for you? Is he nuts?"

It wasn't that complicated. Casper didn't want Nova to end up a murderer. If Nova had killed Eliza, she'd face some serious consequences. Casper couldn't bear that. But if he took the stab, it would just be considered a suicide attempt as long as Casper didn't press charges.

"Maybe he just wanted to keep his lover out of trouble," Eliza mused.

Chelsea nodded. "Guess that's true love for you."

Nova was crazy, and with Casper, they were a match made in hell. Chelsea hoped they'd be locked up together forever.

Eliza was more worried about Robin. "Chelsea, do you think Robin could get arrested if Nova reported him for assault and the cops took it seriously?"

Chelsea hadn't heard anything new. But Robin had been sent abroad for treatment a few days ago, so any arrest would have to wait until he came back. Maybe by then, everything would be cleared up. "Don't worry, they can't arrest him yet. Robin's not even in the country."

"Really?" That was a huge relief.

Chelsea hung around for a bit, chatting with Eliza before leaving. About half an hour later, Eliza heard some commotion outside her room. Nurses were bustling in and out prepping another bed in her room. Then, a couple of caregivers came in and changed all the beddings.

Soon after, Faithe walked in. Spotting Eliza, she lifted her chin slightly. "Mr. Casper will be moved to this room soon. Don't go making him angry."

Was Casper moving here? Wasn't he at that swanky hospital owned by Welton International? Why did he move to a regular hospital and share a room with her?

Noticing Eliza's confused look, Faithe rolled her eyes and left.

The afternoon was a whirlwind of people coming and going, but Casper never showed up. Finally, around 8 p.m., Casper walked in with Dillon by his side. Eliza was sketching something on her tablet and didn't even look up when they entered. It wasn't until Casper lay down on the bed that Eliza finally glanced at him. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

"Dillon, I need to change my bandages," Casper said, his eyes fixed on Eliza.

Eliza kept drawing, unfazed.

Dillon quickly offered, "I'll get a nurse."

"No need," Casper interrupted, still staring at Eliza. "You, come here and help me change my bandages."

Eliza finally put down her pen and looked at him casually. "I'm a patient, not a nurse."

"I saved your life," he said, giving her a look that dared her to refuse. "Eliza, you owe me this."
