I spluttered but had nothing to say in my defence. No, I wasn’t the possessive type but all wolves had degree of possessiveness thanks to their animal sides. Asena already laid claim to her mate and she was at part of me.

“Are you hungry?” Cabir asked but I shook my head. Focused on finding a way to deal with his bloodlust, food was the last thing on my mind.

“I’m a bit tired.” I raised my hands above my head and stretched, stifling a yawn. “It’s hard to sleep when you’re not there. The words slipped from my mouth I stretched and my hands paused midair when I realized what I’d admitted.

“Is that so?” Cahir murmured, his eyes fixated on mine. I looked away when the intensity of his gaze seared me. Those were dangerous words to utter to a man like Cahir Armani and I realized that too late.

“But – But it’s not like I do much sleeping when you’re there,” I said with an awkward laugh, flinching away when he gripped me tighter.

“Is that complaint I hear?” His hands found mine as I moved away. “You’re the one who keeps provoking the, belle. He grabbed a chunk of my hair and brought it to his nostrils, his eyes holding mine and turning

darker.

“I don’t even do anything.” I laughed awkwardly again. His gaze set a fire in my core that I tried to put out.. Now was not the time to be caught in the trap of his smouldering gaze but I could already feel myself melting.

“You don’t have to do anything.” He picked me up as if I weighed nothing. My back hit the bed and I bounced up a little before he crawled atop me. I know a way to energize you since you’re tired.”

“No way. That That only makes me more tired – and sore. I couldn’t look at him as those words slipped from my lips. It made little sense for me to be this embarrassed when he’d seen every inch of

my body and I’d seen every inch of his. No matter how many times we went at it, I still felt my skin heat underneath his palm, or even his gaze.

“If you keep looking away, I’ll assume you don’t want me. His hand paused its massage against my thigh. As if remote–controlled, my eyes flickered back to his and he grinned. “Good girl.” My wolf preened at those words. Cahir already figured out the effect they had on me so he used them ever so often and the reaction was always the same – a deep sense of satisfaction.

After a roll in the sheets with Cahir, a massage and a quick nap, he went back to work and I got back into my research. First, I outlined all I had to do to keep Cahir away from turning rogue.

A distraction was the first thing I came up with. Wouldn’t it be better if he had something to distract him

from raining fire and brimstone on his enemies than letting him do as he pleased?

‘You’re going to be the distraction, aren’t you? Asena asked as I wrote down my plans.

Shut up, I responded to which she snickered. ‘If you have a better plan, let me know, I told my wolf.

Then, my plan was starting to flesh out. Make sure Cabir never flew into a rage by distracting him. Find out whatever I could on bloodlust both from the library, the internet and the temple. It should be easy.

It wasn’t easy.

Alpha Blood had two of the largest and most equipped libraries in the world. One of them was located. around the pack dwellings and the other, I would have to travel to get to as it was too far from the centre of the pack. Travelling was out of the question as Perseus would never let me out of his sight so I was left exploring the one close to me. Asides from exploring a large number of books both old and new, my major problem was the number of people I ran into and how much trouble they caused me.

“You’re here again today.” Felicity beamed at me as I entered the library with an enormous stack of books.

“We need an online library, I muttered to myself, disgusted to face this bitch so early in the day. I could read on Cahir’s tablet which he never used, but I suspected I would find more topics on rogues in the older books, most of which were not available in the online library.

“Why are you researching rogues, Luna?” Felicity asked, following behind me. Blood drained from my face but then shook my head. No one would suspect Cahir of bloodlust just because I read tons of books about rogues. Still, I had to be a bit more careful not to arouse suspicion.

“I am not your Luna,” I snarled at Felicity, dumping my books on a table. “What do to want today? Every day she saw me, she made up a silly excuse to follow me about.

I had my suspicions about what this bitch wanted but all of them made little sense. It was possible that Kade sent her here to spy on me but she was too obvious to be a spy and her family valued her too much to use her for their dirty work.

“I just “She bowed her head a bit. “I just wanted to know how you’re doing.”

There’s no one bullying me these days so I’m fine, I huffed, uninterested in her false display of remorse.

After over a month of her being here and always trying to get my attention and forgiveness, one would think I would let my guard down for her but I’d been stupid in the past. Felicity can keep a façade of friendship for as long as necessary so I would not fall for her trap this time.

“Will you ever forgive me?” She asked in a wretched voice, her head bowing forward some more. “I acted. like a child and now I’m doing everything to get in your good books.”

“No, I will never forgive you.” I spat, my voice loud enough to earn me a reprimand. The librarian walked over with his stern face but when he caught sight of me, his harsh rebuttal ended on his lips.

“Please, keep it down, Luna,” he said to me in a polite voice then he turned to Felicity in anger. “The library is a sacred place of knowledge, not a conversation hub, miss.”

“Sorry, sorry,” she whispered, opening the book on the table before her. She pretended to focus on -scribbling until the librarian left. Her head lifted once the old man moved away..

“Luna, will you like to have lunch with me today?” It was something she asked every day for the since I started coming to the library. I declined every day but she kept insisting.

“If I have lunch with you today, will you leave me alone?” It was a slight surrender but I would do anything at this point to get rid of the leech sticking so close to me these days.

“I will let you have peace in the library.” She beamed with an innocent smile.

Felicity used to wear a pound of makeup and tiny clothes before, but now, she seemed to be going for a more innocent image. I wondered if that was for my benefit or if Aristo preferred girls who looked like naïve virgins.

“I can just have you banned from the library,” I informed her. It felt good sometimes to remind her that in this pack, I had the power she didn’t.

Yes.

you can but then, I won’t be able to be of help to you.

“You haven’t been of any help to me, just a bother.” I glared at her.

“I know you see me as nothing but a slut and a bully, but I graduated top of my class. I’m good at research so I’ve put together something about rogues. If you want, I can show you my research,”

She looked hopeful and a bit smug but I ignored that part.

“You can show me your research during lunch.” She beamed at me but Asena shifted with uncase.
