Chapter 790
Connor finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Flora found his reaction amusing and wanted to keep teasing him, but then she noticed Amanda and the others standing at the door. She got up from the couch, stood straight, and greeted politely, "Aunt Amanda."
Amanda snapped back to reality and murmured a "Hmm," her expression still somewhat mixed. It was her first time seeing Connor and Flora together, and it genuinely surprised her. Her son had always been the quiet, introverted type who kept everything bottled up. She had never seen him truly engaged in anything, like he was just going through the motions of life.
But now, he seemed to be bursting with life. For the first time, he felt like a person with warmth. Seeing such a drastic change in him made her, as a mother, overjoyed and delighted.
"Come in and have a seat. Dinner will be ready soon," Connor said casually after a glance at them, then went back to the kitchen.
"Bro, let me help you!" Kruz, ever the energetic one, quickly followed him.
"No need, stay here."
With Kruz around, there was never a dull moment - that was his specialty. Kruz, oblivious to Connor's actual thoughts and thinking his brother was just being considerate by not letting him into the kitchen, felt even happier.
Flora wasn't much of a talker around unfamiliar people, and Amanda wasn't particularly chatty either. Ethan was the type to be lively only around people he knew well, so the three of them were relatively quiet.
Luckily, Kruz was there, constantly cracking jokes and lightening the mood, preventing any awkwardness.
Soon, Connor brought the food to the table, and Kruz hurried to help with the dishes and cutlery. Flora went to the fridge to get some drinks. Amanda sat at the dining table, looking at all the dishes
prepared by her son, somewhat lost
in thought.
"You can't drink that," Connor said, taking the drinks away from Flora as soon as she placed them on the table. "You can't have cold beverages now."
It was almost her time of the month, and all cold things were off-limits.
"I want to drink it," Flora pouted, looking a bit sullen but with a playful tone.
"I'll warm it up for you then."
"That works," Flora smiled.
Ethan was stunned. The Flora at that moment resembled the somewhat pretentious woman from Connor's social media circle. How did she manage to be so assertive and cool in front of others yet act so demurely in front of his brother? Her brother was clearly aware of her act, yet he seemed to indulge her completely.
Amanda was even more surprised. When had her son become so thoughtful, even remembering that girls shouldn't drink cold beverages and willing to warm up milk for Flora?
What surprised her even more was
yet to come. During the meal, Connor barely touched his food; instead, he put on gloves and started peeling shrimp for Flora After peeling a whole plateful, he offered them to Flora to eat. The entire process was incredibly caring and attentive.
He treated Flora with utmost affection, as if she were his beloved treasure. Amanda was lost in thought again, her vision blurring as she watched. Her heart felt a mix of sourness and expansion but, more than anything, joy and happiness. She had been opposed to Flora and Connor being together, fearing Flora might hurt him. But now it seemed... without Flora, Connor truly couldn't live on.All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
