Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan)

Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Estelle thought that he must have done it on purpose, trying to make her regret and feel disappointed,

just as a way to teach and punish her.

But thinking about it, she was the one who had made mistakes, and it was already nice of Jonathan not

to fire her and not even to contemplate the idea of firing her.

Jonathan watched as the girl’s expression slowly changed from frustration to calm, and even a hint of

happiness. He couldn’t help but smirk again, starting the car, “Shall I take you back to school?”

Estelle’s mood was back to normal, “Sure.”

Half an hour later, a Bentley stopped at the entrance of the University of J City. Estelle prepared to get

out of the car and chuckled, “Thank you, Mr. Lamont.”

“No need to thank me!” the man said indifferently, “I should thank you for only pretending to be my wife

rather than my mother!”

Estelle laughed awkwardly, “You’re welcome too!”

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to, but Henson didn’t agree.

Seeing her flushed cheeks, the man didn’t tease her any further, “Be careful when opening the door.”

“Yes, you drive safely too.”

As Estelle got out of the car and headed straight for the school gate, Jonathan watched her slender

figure. He didn’t leave until she had entered the school.

On that night, Henson approached her to play a game, subtly trying to find out what his uncle said to

Estelle after he left, and whether he had vented his anger on her.

Estelle didn’t say anything, seeming to swallow all the grievances alone and bear everything by herself.

As expected, Henson became restless and not only gave her lots of equipment but also protected her

all night, taking a lot of damage himself.

At half past nine, Estelle told Henson to go to bed. Unusually, Henson didn’t refuse and went to sleep

right after getting off the game.

Later, Estelle received a call from her father Bennett saying that there was a big party at the family’s old

house this weekend. Her grandparents wanted everyone to attend.

“What’s the occasion?” Estelle asked.

Bennett explained, “Your cousin Sabina is returning from abroad after graduating and getting dual

master’s degrees. The party is both a welcome party for your cousin and a celebration for her joining

the Lamont Group as the president’s secretary.”

Estelle’s eyebrows twitched – president’s secretary? Her cousin was going to be Jonathan’s personal

secretary? “I have plans this weekend, so I won’t attend. Please apologize to my grandparents for me,”

Estelle said.

She had grown up away from home, and although she was now a part of the Macclain family, she

wasn’t close to her older relatives. She had attended family reunions before, but she never seemed to

fit in.

Especially during such reunions, it was better if she didn’t go.

Bennett tried to persuade her, “It’s a rare opportunity. Your cousin is very outstanding, you could learn a

lot from her.”

“Dad, I really have plans.” Estelle’s tone was mild, but her attitude was firm.

*Alright then Bennett could only chuckle, “You’ll have other chances to meet in the future”

After hanging up the phone, Estelle played the game for a while longer. Suddenly, a black eagle

emblem appeared on her phone, slowly changing from black to transparent.

Estelle exited the game, got up, and left her bedroom.

Mr. Wagner was walking Max on the lawn in the yard, while Wilma was preparing breakfast ingredients

for tomorrow in the kitchen. The whole villa was as peaceful as usual. From NôvelDrama.Org.

Estelle went to the study room next door, placed her fingerprint on the scanner, and entered.

Inside the study room, there were no desks or bookshelves; instead, there was only a computer placed

in the center, with two black and white display screens on the opposite wall.
