Chapter 13: Home
Chapter 13: Home
Lucas was left behind, and his face was almost distorted with anger.
Since he was born, no one ever dared to treat him like this. Who is this man?
Lucas clenched his jaw. He could never let it go.
If he didn’t get his revenge, he swore he won’t call himself a man!
Felicity and Jason got in the car together. Having left the crowd, Felicity took a deep breath of relief and
kept a suitable distance from Jason.
Jason felt her sudden and obvious alienation, but he didn’t show it in his behavior.
"How did you come here all of a sudden?" This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
Felicity was still a little confused and asked.
"I was just passing by." Jason answered nonchalantly.
"Really? It is a bit far away from the company..."
Felicity didn’t know what to believe, he was obviously a little suspicious.
However, Jason did not explain, but directly changed the topic, "What you did just now, won’t cause
you any trouble, right?"
"It shouldn't."
Felicity replied, thinking that Lucas could not be narrow-minded and conceited to that extent.
No matter what he said, there was really no reason for a person of such status, Lucas the Handsome,
the rich God of the university, to pick a fight with someone like her.
Then she said, "Anyway, thank you for today. You can just drop me off nearby."
Felicity was extremely grateful to Jason for showing up there just in time. If it wasn’t for him, she’d have
a very hard time trying to resolve that situation.
"Are you going back to the campus?" Jason asked.
"No!”
With what just happened, going back was out of question for Felicity.
Besides, the crowd might be waiting for her and tear her to pieces with slander if she went back.
"Where are you going to go if you’re not coming back to the campus?” Jason asked subconsciously.
"I'll go home."
Felicity replied. If she wasn’t going back to her dorm room, then naturally the other option was home.
Hearing this, Jason couldn’t help but think about the information his assistant had collected for him.
There was Felicity's family background information in it.
According to the information, Felicity was not on speaking terms with her family and had left her home
a long time ago.
Usually, Felicity lived in the university campus dormitory.
However, although Jason was suspicious, he couldn’t just ask her directly and mention the background
check he did on her. So, he simply said, "Tell me the address. I'll drop you there."
But Felicity decisively refused, "No! It’s fine. Just drop me off here now."
After all, it was quite embarrassing always troubling him with her problems.
"No, I can't let a woman go home alone at night."
Jason was reasonable, which made Felicity find it difficult to refuse.
She could never win with him, which irritated her a little. Finally, she agreed and just said, "It’s in the old
urban area."
Anyway, it's the rush hour for taxis. If he didn’t want to drop her off here, then she was fine with it.
Jason was taken aback. That part of the city was very old, in which there were mostly apartments.
And many apartments there were in the process of demolition and relocation, Felicity lived there?
But then, she had already broken up with her family, so, it must be impossible for her to go back to live
with them.
Jason’s brain was working it all out very fast, but when he asked her, he kept his tone casual and light,
"Do you live there?"
Felicity did not speak, but nodded gently.
A few years ago, after her relationship with her family ended, she moved into the old apartment with
her mother and the two depended on each other.
But sometime later, her mother fell ill, although her condition was not very serious, she needed to rely
on drugs, and so her mother stayed in the hospital for a long time.
In the end, Felicity went to university, and the old apartment was left empty, as there was basically no
one living there.
Due to her part-time job, Felicity chose to live in the campus dormitory and only went back home once
a week on weekends.
After all, the house needed to be looked after and cleaned.
But she kept these things buried deep in her heart and never told anyone.
Besides, Jason and she were not familiar enough with each other for her to tell him all this. They had
only met three times.
Even though when they met for the first time the most preposterous thing happened, it was an
unexpected thing, which neither of them had ever thought of.
Therefore, it was even more impossible for Felicity to share her life story with him.
Seeing that Felicity was not willing to say anything, Jason nodded politely and did not press the matter
any further.
Then, he took Felicity to the old urban area.
…
The old urban area was quite far away from JC University. Jason drove for half an hour and finally
arrived at the gate of the apartment complex.
Of course, this place was not comparable to the new urban area. There were no people on the road at
night and the condition of the old apartments revealed the effects of time on them.
There were very few and only five or six floored buildings. Jason seldom came to such places.
"It’s here. I'll just get off here." Felicity said.
"Okay."
Hearing this, Jason stopped the car.
"Thank you. Bye."
Felicity unfastened her seat belt and smiled lightly at Jason.
"Mm-hmm."
Jason nodded gently.
After Felicity left, Jason stayed behind in the parked car, looking at Felicity’s retreating back in the dark.
He didn't drive away until she walked upstairs and disappeared into the night.
…
When Felicity got home, it was completely dark.
She groped around on the wall, found the light switch, and turned on the light. Perhaps it was because
it had been vacant for so long, the house was covered in a light layer of dust. The light was weak and
casted shadows on the walls.
It was extremely quiet, only the seconds hand moving on the clock on the wall could be heard. Besides
it there was silence.
As Felicity stepped into the apartment, she inexplicably felt lonely.
With a sigh, Felicity put down her bag and began to clean.
This was why she never liked coming home every week, because there was no one here, her heart
always fell into melancholy and loneliness.
However, even though the apartment was empty, it held some of the best memories for her and her
mother.
Although it was old, it carried many warm and loving memories. Even though Felicity’s current situation
was miserable, she could not forget those beautiful things.
This was also the reason why Felicity still payed rent and kept the apartment. After all, her mother
really liked this place.
And her mother will eventually get better. After she gets well, she and Felicity can live here happily.
As these thoughts flash across Felicity’s mind, she couldn’t help but smile lightly, the speed of cleaning
also increased cheerfully.
When everything was cleaned, it was already an hour later…
After Felicity took a shower, she fell mindlessly on the bed. The mattress was soft, and the quilt was
warm and comfortable.
It was a tiring day for her; she fell asleep shortly after falling into bed.
Before sleep came, she was still thinking about the next day when she’d go to visit her mother in the
hospital.
