Chapter 77
Unice’s PoV
It wasn’t that difficult because I had a normal birth. My ob-gyn and nurses are assisting me with this process, for which I am grateful.
[How are you doing right now?] Ace questioned me because Tom had called Dr. Henry to inform him that I had already given birth to Ace’s son and was feeling a little dizzy.
“I’m fine. I’m a little weak and dizzy because I just gave birth,” I reminded him, and Zoey handed me my son while Tom held the phone.
[Do you have a name in mind?] Ace inquired, and I could see from his face that he was excited about our newborn baby boy. I didn’t know what to name him because we didn’t talk about it when I was visiting or talked about other things.
“To be honest, I don’t have a name in mind, but do you have one?” I inquire, and he smiles.
[I’m always prepared; we didn’t discuss it when you were here. I considered naming him Aaron because my name begins with the A.’ I want to name him after that letter,] Ace suggested a name for our baby boy, and I smiled.
“I like it. His name will be Aaron Shelton,” I told him as I looked at my sleeping baby.
“He’s sleeping now, and he looks like you,” I replied.
[Of course, he’ll look like me; I’m fantastic, and he will be as well.] Ace exclaimed with delight, and I noticed Zoey had prepared an apple juice for me.
“Do you want me to pay you a visit when I regain my strength?” When I asked, his smile faded.
[If you’re visiting me here, don’t bring him because I don’t want him to see that his father is insane.] Ace suggested, and I was taken aback.
“Why would you think that? You are not insane; you are improving!” I addressed him, and he shook his head.
[Please do not bring him here. Allow Zoey to look after him for the time being when you come here,] Ace explained, and I didn’t say anything but nodded.
“I understand. I will visit you if I regain my strength. I will be fine here. I miss you since I haven’t visited in a month because I’m afraid I’ll be in labor.” I said.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
[Don’t worry about it, I have to go now it’s 30 minutes. I need to give this phone back to Dr. Henry. I’m happy we talked and showed me, my son. You take care now and make sure Aaron is healthy. I promise we will be together again,] Ace promised, and I could tell he was pleased because he was eager to see and be with us again.
“Okay, you always take care of yourself,” I told him, and he nodded before hanging up the phone.
“I can’t believe your son fell asleep when you started carrying him,” Zoey said. I heard a knock on the door since I was in a private room.
“I believe this is Max because we informed him,” I said softly. And Tom was the one who opened the door, and I was surprised to see Max and Mr. Daffe carrying some food.
“Mr. Daffe! I apologize for interrupting your work and for coming here.” I apologized, and he looked at my son.
“Don’t bother getting up; I’m just paying a visit! He looks like Ace; he’s not hungry; he’s just sleeping. By the way, here’s some food.” Mr. Daffe responded I know he came here because he admitted he likes me, and Zoey knows about it, but Ace is the only one I liked.
“Let him sleep. Where is the apple juice you made, Zoey? I’d like to drink it.” I asked for apple juice, and she gave it to me, but she didn’t mind Mr. Daffe being there.
“I’m glad you’re okay, Miss Unice,” Max said, and I just smiled as I drank the apple juice and watched my baby open his eyes.
The baby cried out loudly, and I knew I needed to feed him breast milk and comfort him. I look at Zoey, and she knows exactly what to do.
“I need to feed him, and the boys need to go out,” I advised, and they were taken aback.
“Yes, we’re leaving.” As my ob-gyn went inside my private room to check on me, Max said as they quickly exited.
Mr. Daffe, Tom, and Max went outside, but Zoey stayed because she was a girl. I started feeding my baby.
“Hello there, Ms. Unice. How are you currently feeling?” Dr. Razon inquired with a smile on her face.
“I’m fine, a little pain, but it’s tolerable. I have my close friends here to help me,” I explained to Dr. Razon as she checked the medical clipboard with my results. We began conversing, giving advice, check-ups, and boosters shots Aaron requires. This will be difficult, but I am prepared.
Six years have passed since my birth; Aaron is a healthy young boy who is about to begin school and is looking forward to it. While watching him grow up, I notice that he’s similar to Ace because he has some kinship with his father but doesn’t know where his father is. I only tell him that he’s far away and will return next year because next year will be seven years from now.
“Is Uncle Tom coming to get me? You have work to do, Mom.” Aaron asked me a question while he was fooling around.
“Yes, he’ll pick you up, but don’t worry, Zoey will be home earlier than me because I need to finish some paperwork on your father’s company and remember to be a good boy to him,” I explained while fixing his uniform.
“I’d like to see my father soon, and I’m hoping we can get close! I have so many stories to tell him!” Aaron declared, and I smiled and kissed his brow.
“I am sure he will be happy if he meets you; we only need to wait another year, and we will be complete family,” I assured him, and he smiled at me. Ace is looking forward to meeting you soon, Aaron.
“Do you remember what I said? Don’t get involved in fights or bullying if you are being bullied; if something happens, tell me about it.” I advised him, and he nodded. I handed him his schoolbag, which contained his lunchbox and other necessities.
“I won’t be arrogant like my father; you told me he was!” Aaron exclaimed and laughed. I told him everything about our relationship and how the two of us met. Still, of course, I had to make up some stories about how he is here because we love each other.
We went outside, and Tom was getting ready to drive Aaron to his elementary school using the humvee car. I waved my hand as he went inside, and Tom bowed to me before opening the door at the driver’s seat.
“You two are adorable. I’m glad he’s not angry about his father not being by his side for more than 6 years,” Zoey said quietly. And my best friend is already married to Max, and they’ve decided to move out when Ace returns.
“I’m going to get ready for work; you should get ready as well since you’re already a manager at the coffee shop,” I chuckled to her, and she smiled back.
We went back inside the house, and I went upstairs to shower. After I took a shower, I went to my cabinet and chose my office attire; I’m going to work today, so I’m going to wear an office outfit.
Aaron and I are sharing a room for the time being because he wants to sleep next to me, but he has his own room in front of mine. He is like Ace in that he does not want to be alone, and his favorite foods are also Ace’s favorites, which is quite amusing because he is like a miniature version of Ace.
To be honest, I miss him terribly; I saw him last weekend, which was Sunday, and it is now Wednesday. I’m excited that he’ll return home next year, and it’s already settled that he’s getting better. Dr. Henry keeps me updated on his mental health and how his parole would progress, which would benefit our family.
I’m wearing my office attire, fixing my hair, and putting on make-up. I’m 29 years old and have been in good health for the past six years. Ace’s age is known to me; he is now 30 years old, as his and my birthdays have passed.
Today is July, and Aaron and I will celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve with Zoey and the four Tom, Justin, Charlie, and Max. I’m glad I’m with someone I can trust, and they’ve become close friends.
Ace’s men are still on their base, doing the work they needed in our company to be ready if something happened to us. I’m not sure Ace would let go of it once he returned home.
