Chapter 1170: Don’t Think About It (1)
The Horsham cable car was once again slowing down and running normally.
Bernardo is an arrogant gentleman and when Micaela calls him to come down the hill, Bernardo refuses to do so, leaving Micaela to receive him personally as a great customer.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
He also impetuously said over the phone that he had the balls to sell her the film and TV rights to the Yellow Springs series if she had the balls to come up the mountain to pick him up.
Micaela laughed over the phone, “How can I miss something so good, wait for me on the mountain if you have the balls.”
“A gentleman’s promise is a promise you can’t keep.”
Micaela took the cable car up the mountain and went to look for Bernardo at the lodge’s lodge.
After leaving his room at the farmhouse, Bernardo walked with Micaela in the direction of the cable car.
On the way, Bernardo asked curiously, “Hey, I’m curious, what exactly was it that made you take the cable car down the mountain yesterday despite risking your life?”
Micaela’s eyes sparkled for a moment and she said, “Even though you are now my most important signing, I have the right to protect my privacy, don’t I?”
“Forget it, I don’t care about other people’s personal affairs.”
Micaela walks ahead and Bernardo trails behind as the two of them walk towards the platform from where the cable car departs.
On one side of the platform stands a young man with a strong, distinguished figure.
His clean face was gaunt and pale, with a white gauze ring still wrapped around his forehead, and his eyes were bloodshot, tired and disheveled.
Micaela stopped in her stride and watched him silently at a short distance.
Bernardo, naturally, became aware of the man’s presence and reached over and bumped his shoulder against Micaela’s, asking, “Do you know him?”
Micaela didn’t expect Nico to come running up.
The mountain air is so cold that a breath of air condenses to white, but Nico is very well dressed, wearing only a thin white shirt under his black coat.
Lately, he seems to have lost a lot of weight.
Micaela took a deep breath, not ignoring him, just walked casually toward the cable car platform and said, “Patients shouldn’t run, don’t hospitals care about you?”
Nico wrinkled his brow a little, “The hospital doesn’t give a damn, I snuck out.”
“Are you looking for me for something?”
Nico looked at her with a deep, bone-deep stare and said, “Dario said something I didn’t know.”
Dario betrayed her.
She still couldn’t resist telling Nico those things.
“There’s not much to say, it’s all in the past.”
“Let’s talk about it.” Even if it was about the divorce, it was better that she had nothing to tell him.
Micaela got on the cable car and Bernardo, rightly, wanted to get on it, but Nico stopped Bernardo and, without giving him a chance, closed the door with a long stride.
Bernardo, who was outside, cursed, “Hey, you rascal! What a guy!”
The gondola, in which Micaela and Nico were traveling, soon slid down the steel cable car track.
Bernardo had to resign himself to taking the next cable car.
…
Inside the cable car, space is limited.
Micaela does not remember being completely alone in a small, enclosed space with Nico like this.
The view outside the glass cable car is exceptionally good, with beautiful mountains and vegetation all around.
The atmosphere is quiet as Micaela’s eyes are unfocused on the scenery outside the cable car.
Nico remained silent for a long while, watching the cable car descend a third of the way down, before finally breaking the silence, “Why didn’t you tell me you couldn’t get pregnant again?”
Micaela pursed her lips and smiled slightly, saying with little emotion, “It’s nothing, anyway, I don’t plan to have children in this lifetime. Other than being a little less fit and having to take extreme care not to hurt yourself, not being able to have children isn’t a big deal.”
Nico’s gaze fell on his bandaged fingers and his eyes twitched as he asked, “How did you get that wound on your hand?”
“Don’t worry about yourself…”
Before Micaela could finish her sentence, Nico had already interrupted her, “Did you hurt yourself trying to take the cable car down the mountain to find me? You’re not a good coagulator, it’s dangerous. It’s impossible for a small hospital in the middle of nowhere to have panda blood.
Micaela hung her face slightly and said quietly, “What’s the use of talking about this now?”.
She was, so to speak, devoid of any emotion towards him.
Even hate, she could not afford to hate.
Nico swallowed saliva and asked, “If Dario hadn’t told me those things, were you planning to keep them from me forever?”
Micaela raised her eyes, looked at him and said, “Nico, since we are bystanders, let’s pass by. There are things you don’t have to know, because knowing them doesn’t change the past. As for us, let’s stop here.”
There was no trace of obsession in his clear eyes, and even the hatred was gone.
Shouting –
A piercing sound of the cable car wheels scraping against the steel lines.
The gondola’s brakes suddenly failed and the emergency brake stopped in mid-air.
By inertia, Nico unconsciously grabbed Micaela, who had fallen on top of him.
He tightened his grip on her and just as Micaela was about to move, Nico pinned her against the cable car wall and asked in a deep, commanding, soft voice in her ear, “If we fall off the cliff together and die here together, will you forgive me, Micaela?”
What’s the point of forgiveness when you’re dead?
Micaela said in dismay, “We won’t die here, and the cable car will stop long enough for the crew to slow down again and everything will be back on the way it should be. If we die here together, I can only regret not being able to escape you, even in death.”
Nico’s heart took a violent stab, and he forced a smile from the corners of his scarlet eyes and said, “Really, do you even think it’s superfluous to hate me? Micaela, is it true that we can’t go back?”
“I’ve thought about it a lot these days. If you hadn’t found out that I’m still alive, I probably wouldn’t have reappeared before you for the rest of my life, so that each of us could be at peace. I’m sure you’ll be able to forget about me and live again after five or ten years, or maybe a decade, if it’s long enough. nico, sometimes two people who love each other can change faces, and they don’t have to be together.”
Nico clenched his fists and looked at Micaela, his eyes red-rimmed, and said, “Who told you I could forget you if I took enough time? I can’t forget, even if I thought you were dead, you’re the only one I want to love in my life, Micaela, I only want to be with you, I don’t want anyone else but you.”
“But love, in the end, doesn’t turn out to be right. nico, the truth is that the problems between us were never because of Dario or anyone else, we simply both got lost in our beliefs about each other. nico, it’s the right people who break the mirror, the wrong ones who only repeat the same mistakes.”
“How are you going to know what repeats if you don’t try it?”
I can’t fall in love with someone twice, and I can’t fall in love with someone twice. Let me go, and let yourself go. You should start a new life, you should have a wife fit for you and a lovely son. But your new life shouldn’t have me in it.”
But what was the use of having a wife if it wasn’t her?
He preferred to live his life alone.
The gondola rocked violently several times and slowed down again.
Nico, however, was desperate, knowing that Micaela was not being ironic and that she was really exhausted.
Yes, many scars from the past, and how to heal them is marked by scars.
It turns out that forgetting about each other is really a way to comply and respect.
The cable car never broke down again and the descent down the mountain was smooth.
At the foot of the mountain, Micaela was about to get off the cable car when, inside the cable car, Nico suddenly called out to her, “Micaela. ”
Micaela looked back at him, expecting him to speak.
Instead, Nico smiled easily at her and said, “Nothing, I just wanted to give you another shout.”
This will probably be the last time she’ll be called that.
She said, “The divorce papers, I’ll sign them and send them to you. I won’t bother you anymore.”
Micaela stiffened for a moment, and only after a long moment did she say, “Thank you.”
The divorce settlement, for her, was really a gift, wasn’t it?
That day, Nico sat in the cable car for a long, long time.
He had convinced himself that he shouldn’t give up, but he found that the feeling of wanting to give up but still being in love was the most torturous.
Micaela may have tasted it a thousand times during his two years in England, and so, now, he had no thrill.
It was he, with his own hands, who drove her away never to return.
…
After returning from Ciudad de D, Micaela negotiated the price of the rights with Bernardo and the details.
Walking Media Pictures, which eventually bought the film and television rights from Bernardo for 100 million.
Soon, Walking Media attracted more equity investment from the industry, and the company went on to raise as much as $1. 5 billion, with shareholders backing it from all walks of power and capital.
Walking Media is on the right track with its development.
Half a month later, Micaela received the divorce papers from the court, and at that time, Nico signed them.
Micaela signed the papers emotionlessly and put them in a drawer.
It has been a quiet half with Micaela getting Malia’s passport and visa for the UK.
Bernardo moved from the City of D to the Holy City to facilitate work communication after signing with Walking Media.
Micaela makes it a point to get up on time every day to write.
However, today was a little different, after Micaela got him out of bed to write, she told him, “Today should be my last day to supervise you getting up to write, so if you still need a supervised morning call, I can have my assistant Aida come get you.”
“Why should I change, no one else can call me.”
“I have handed the company over to other directors and have resigned as executive managing director of Walking Media, there will be a new managing director to take over from you and I will be back in the UK soon. In the future, see you in the jungle.”
Bernardo cursed, “Woman, you cheated me out of my royalties and then walked away, are you allowed to do things like that?”
Micaela said helplessly, “It’s in black and white, you signed it personally and of your own free will, and besides, the 100 million royalty, I gave it to you at market price, not overpriced, but without swindling you at all.”
With those words, Micaela picked up her bag and turned around, ready to leave.
Bernardo called out to her, “Hey, are you coming back?”
Micaela turned her back to him, didn’t turn around, smiled softly and said, “There are still some personal tasks I have to take care of, and after that, I’ll say goodbye to this place forever. I don’t think I’ll … come back.”
“You said in Horsham that you were divorced and had an abortion, I didn’t think it was true. The last time I saw that man in Horsham, he was your ex-husband, wasn’t he? Even if you want to start a new life and don’t want to meet him, there’s no need to leave your hometown that you’ve known since you were a child, is there?”
Bernardo held her back.
However, Micaela took a deep breath and said, “I still don’t have a strong enough heart to live in the same place as him and be able to restrain myself from repeating the same mistakes. I think the first thing I will learn if I am going to start a new life is to say goodbye to the past once and for all.”
