Chapter 74
Alora POV
Things are back to how they were. I may have been asleep for 4 years, Than having married another, but things were still the same.
I was still torn.
It's as if I never took the wolfsbane.
İ
I was furious at Than for ordering one of his men to drag me away kicking and screaming. I just wanted to see Hector...speak to Hector.
It had been 4 years. Why couldn't he just see that...why did he deny me that.
Something was going on...Alpha Damon was living here again. For a retired alpha to return, it isn't a good sign within the pack and the pack's reputation when it came to other packs. They weren't telling me and I had a feeling it was more than the invitation that Hector received.
My heart broke seeing him so distraught, I thought he might have moved on. That he might have forgotten... it had been 4 years.
Than refused to let me move into a guest room, saying that I could ignore him all day if I wished but at night time, I was to remain with him.
I know deep down he only wants what is best for me, but the way he acted was unnecessary. He was the one that was married to another person...yet he acted as if I was the one that chose another.
I was in the bedroom, looking through photographs of myself as a child with my parents, the arguing with my adoptive family making me miss my...well adopted parents even more.
I had searched through everything and couldn't find any clues that might indicate where I was from. Who my real parents were. It also plagued me that Kaia had a mate connection with Than, yet so did it.
I was just about to reach for another folder of paperwork when I heard a deafening monstrous growl from downstairs.
Only one werewolf growls like that... Hector.
I listen intently, my ears pinned for any noise...when a commotion vibrates against the very walls of the
house.
I leap off the bed, hurrying down the stairs knowing Than was also in the office downstairs. As I reach the bottom step, Freya calls out to me at the front door warning me not to proceed. But I can't not wait, I can't not know.
I push past the warriors guarding the office door to find Hector pushing Than's face up against the wall, seething as he talks.
"I know what you did, you fucking disgust me." Both males are facing the wall, their backs to us, but there is no mistaking the loathing in Hector's low unworldly voice.
I rush in, not thinking of my own welfare, only that Than was in pain... Hector being the one causing it.
"Hector?" I place my hand on Hector's arm, trying to calm him down. His head snaps to me, eyes the colour of demonic black glaring down at me...his wolf in full control, in the human body. "Hector, what has happened?" I soothe, trying to pull him away from Than... trying to get him out of danger.
"Alora no!" Than pushes on my mind-link but I push him back out. I know Hector would never harm me. Not even when his hand lifts to touch my face. I don't move, as I let the soft tingles of his touch on my cheek lead him away from Than. A low threatening growl leaves Than for Hector touching what he believes to be his, I suppose I am his aren't I.
I've always been his.
Yet the low buzzing of the mate bond with Hector still challenges that. Even now it is hard to deny.
"She's gone, your invitation was reckless..." Anger takes back over him as he turns to Than again.
"Out! Everybody out!" I order at the warriors, Medea scoffing in the corner...my eyes glaring daggers at her. "You can't order us out dear. This is our home."
"Fine, but the warriors are to leave... Than..." I look to Than for him to nod in agreement.
He looks at my arm still on Hector, before his head slowly nods in confirmation.
"Tell me Hector, who has left?" I softly ask, regaining Hector's full attention "Kaia!" 1
"Kaia?" My eyes dart to Than, I don't understand how does Hector know her.
"How do you know Kaia?" I look up at Hector's eyes that were now starting to slowly fade from the demonic black, back to grey ash.
His scent of burnt oranges aromatically burning at my nostrils. I'm conscious not to react in front of Than, which is hard, the mate bond with Hector was a shock back then, yet not a shock I wasn't unhappy with. Hector's eyes travel from mine to Than's before returning back at me,.a sense of pity laced in them.
"She's been at my pack since she left here...he didn't tell you?"
""No, no he didn't!"
