Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 158

Hector POV

Everything was arranged..

A selection of the warriors from the Dark Phantom pack had arrived and I was currently having a debate with the doctor who was refusing to medically approve Kala to leave, and go into the care of my own head doctor.

I understand his concern but he doesn't realise that my doctor has already built a good rapport with Kaia, something I'm certain he can quickly build again.

"I'm not happy with this, as a medical professional but also as a pack member and..."

"Someone who cares for her welfare. I understand doctor. But if I keep her here, things remain a ticking time bomb until the next attack. As long as she remains here, the borders will only get smaller and smaller."

He seems to consider my words for a moment before he signs her transfer papers.

"Fine, I'm approving her for travel and here are her notes so far to pass to her new doctor. Tell the doctor to call me with any concerns.

"My doctor is aware of Kaia's condition and will be certain to contact you should he have any questions. Don't worry doctor, I'll look after my own mate."

If he hadn't already handled Beckett's death certificate to my request I would say he was a doctor trying to challenge me.

"I'm going to look after the pack for you Kaia, until you return." Alora remained with Kaia in the room while the doctor and I spoke outside in the corridor.

"I told you, I'm not going anywhere!"

"It's best that you go with Hector, go with your mate."

"Says who?" She coldly scowls.

"Says me?" I walk into the room, my commanding aura swallowing up the room. She has been battling against my decision, she doesn't have to like it, but she will follow it.

"Like I said...I'm not going anywhere." She stands up off the bed, her shoulders back and her chest out. her chin high.

"No?" I invade her space, my nose now just above hers

"You don't have to like it, but you are mine now and you are coming with me."

"I'm not yours."

"The mark on your neck states differently." I can't help the smirk that forms on my lips.

Being a budget tight reformed rogue pack, Kaia didn't have a lot to pack. I was finalising things with Ezra

In the office, having entrusted Alora to walk Kala back from the medical centre. Which was taking them longer than planned.

Exiting the alpha house, I find my warriors congregated at the front, waiting for orders to be given to

them.

"You may be following the orders of an acting luna but remember Ezra here is your beta first, and that you really report to me. Should you have any concerns of the pack leadership you need to raise them directly to Ezra, or failing that to myself," I allow my alpha aura to roll off me.

"Yes Alpha!" They reply in unison.

"The borders are at a disadvantage being contested land and as you are not part of the pack-link you need to be mindful of where the borders start and finish. The Shadow Rock pack will attack at any time, is your job to hold the borders and to protect the pack "Understood Alpha."

"You'll notice the presence of humans more here, especially on the beach...let's walk there now.."

I hadn't returned to the cliff tops since that dreadful day, but had revisited plenty of times in nightmares.

my

I was still waking up gasping for air, my hand stretched out trying to reach for Kaia....trying and failing.

As we approach the beach border, the wind is silent, the sea peaceful...no evidence remaining of how it hides its dangers right in plain sight. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

it

I was expecting to find some kind of tell tale sign of the horrors that had been. Instead...there were yachts in the waters and laughing humans on the beach below, bathing in the strong sun light.

It's how it should be.

But what I couldn't understand is how she had ended up in the waters...I just couldn't imagine Kaia doing what the doctor suggested.

What I shouldn't be witnessing to my own horror is Kala standing on the cliff tops next to Alora in the

distance.

My heart feels as if it has jumped out of my chest and was already running towards them. "Kaia?"

Her body stiffens as I head over to her, she wasn't even trying to hide her anger at me as she turns to

sneer at me.

"Hector, calm down, I am just showing her the view." Alora stands next to her Kala, whose eyes were bleeding out to that of her wolf.

"Am I allowed here...or does the great alpha Hector deny me even that."

"The great alpha Hector, so you've been asking about me?" I cock an eyebrow at her.

"No, I just assumed that's how you like to think of yourself." She huffs as she leans over to look at the great drop below.

"You need to stand back.." I growl out.

C moves away from me and he takes a turning towards a building on the side of the road.

"Let's get some food. We still have a long drive ahead of us."
