Chapter 6 Don't Scare Her
Many big shots had gathered in another private room at Night Siren.
Niles pushed open the door and leaned over to Keith, saying, "Miss Jefferson has arrived."
Keith's fingers froze slightly on the table. "She's here for business?"
Niles nodded. "Her agent helped her get an audition for a role. Miss Jefferson might be too embarrassed to refuse. I heard that...."
"Miss Jefferson? Which Miss Jefferson?" Jackson brought over a glass of wine upon hearing their conversation and became interested.
In their circle of friends, only Keith was always alone, and it was rare to hear him refer to a woman.
Niles smiled at him. "Hello, Mr. Luther. You look very handsome today."
"Thank you! I think so too." After speaking, Jackson looked back at the man next to him and asked leisurely, "Which Miss Jefferson? Is she a socialite or an actress?"
Keith raised his hand slightly, indicating for Niles to continue.
"According to the waiter, Miss Jefferson was forced to toast as soon as she arrived. Most of the people there were investors and actresses."
The purpose of the gathering of actresses and investors was evident.
Keith's face suddenly darkened, and his eyes were full of displeasure.
Jackson raised an eyebrow at this scene and thought, "The legendary Keith Fuller actually cares about that woman so much?"
Jackson was even more curious now and wondered which lady could have such a great influence on Keith.
Jackson chimed in, "Ivan's private room? He's here to attend a gathering today."
"Yes. Do you know him, Mr. Luther?"
Jackson put down his glass and looked very righteous. "Mr. Fuller, you don't need to deal with these nouveau riche and small potatoes. I'll go and bring Miss Jefferson here to you, and I guarantee not a single hair on her head will be harmed."
Keith said slowly, "Don't scare her."
Jackson was dumbfounded and responded, "It turns out that you're so concerned about her. Don't worry! I'll just pass on the message. If anyone dares to force Miss Jefferson to drink, I'll throw them into the Atlantic Ocean to feed the sharks."
Keith picked up the glass in front of him with his bony hands, his voice low and husky. "The same to you."
Jackson muttered, "F*ck!"
...
Mr. Chanderson, the biggest investor in The Old Palace, was notorious in the industry for his lecherous behavior. Being noticed by him could be a good thing, but it might not necessarily be so.
"It's just a drink, Miss Jefferson. Don't you want to drink with me?" Mr. Chanderson asked. "Don't blame me for not reminding you. Director Gates' new film has attracted many top actresses to audition. It's a great opportunity in front of you, Miss Jefferson. Are you going to let it slip away?"
As soon as Mr. Chanderson finished his sentences, everyone looked at Angelina.
Someone of them were jealous and teasing. Most of them were just watching the show.
It was a blatant threat.
Angelina had to drink the wine, even if she didn't want to.
She gazed down and gave a charming smile. "There are still a few top actresses here. How can I just steal the role from them?"
Mr. Chanderson smiled meaningfully when he heard this. "The roles haven't been decided yet. How could it be called "steal?" Miss Jefferson, as long as you want it, you can even play the female lead."
Director Gates had a strange temper and it was impossible to contact him. The actresses could only increase the success of their auction by pleasing the investors.
Queenie was originally the front-runner, but she never expected Angelina to show up.
"Angelina, Mr. Chanderson is so good to you, but you even refuse to have a drink with him?" Queenie said words dripped with sarcasm.
Just then, the door to the private room opened.
"I'd like to see who wants to be sharks' food in the Atlantic," Jackson said as he walked in.
Seeing Jackson, Mr. Chanderson, who had been sitting leisurely, immediately stood up. "Mr. Luther, what brings you here?"
As soon as Jackson entered, he caught the attention of Angelina.
The crowd thought to themselves, "Oh, my God! No wonder Keith values him so much. Keith really has good taste. Jackson is really breathtakingly handsome."
"Mr. Luther, would you like to sit down and have a drink with us?"
Jackson rejected it and said, "No, thanks! I just heard Miss Jefferson graced us with her presence at Night Siren today, so I came to say hello."
The crowd was left bewildered and thought, "Miss Jefferson? Graced us with her presence?"
Ivan was the first to react, and he asked tentatively, "Do you know Miss Jefferson, Mr. Luther?"
Jackson ignored Ivan's question. Instead, he looked at the glass in front of Angelina and asked, "Who brought Miss Jefferson the drink?"
Everyone fell silent and dared not speak.
Jackson chuckled softly. "It's fine that Miss Jefferson can't recognize me now. She will in the future." His tone became harsher as he continued, "If Miss Jefferson doesn't want to drink, then don't force her by playing any tricks. Otherwise, I swear I'll tie you up and throw you into the Atlantic. Got it?"
Angelina had thought that she needed to deal with the investors for a long time tonight. Since someone was here to back her up, she, of course, accepted it.
With a smile on her delicate face, she said, "Thank you, Mr. Luther, for your help!"
Her tone was sweet and her face was charming. Her curly eyelashes even fluttered slightly.
Words of "No need to thank me. I was just asked to do this," rose to Jackson's lips, but for some reason, they came out as, "Don't mention it!"
After hearing Jackson's words, the actresses present dared not say anything more, even if they didn't like Angelina.
The Luther family was one of the four major wealthy families in the Capital City, and even Night Siren was their property. The actresses couldn't afford to offend Jackson.
Mr. Chanderson even gave up on the idea of making Angelina drink and personally walked Jackson out.
After Jackson left, Mr. Chanderson lowered his voice and asked, "Did you get everything ready as I asked you?"
The person next to him was a little stunned. "But Miss Jefferson is Mr. Luther's...."
Mr. Chanderson gave a meaningful smile. "Since Mr. Luther came to help Angelina out of trouble, it's obvious he hasn't succeeded in getting her yet. If we do him a big favor, it'll be easy for us to talk about cooperation in the future."
Angelina didn't like this kind of messy socializing. When she was about to leave, Mr. Chanderson and his men returned. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
"We're really sorry, Miss Jefferson. We didn't know you and Mr. Luther were acquainted. How about we have beverages instead of alcohol? Miss Jefferson, I hope you won't take offense."
The waiter happened to bring in the beverage, and Mr. Chanderson poured two glasses naturally.
When Angelina was about to politely decline and leave, Mr. Chanderson smiled and said, "Miss Jefferson, if you drink this and forgive me for today's incident, I will definitely help you handle things
about Director Gates's play."
After much hesitation, Angelina drank the beverage.
Mr. Chanderson, on the other hand, discreetly placed his drinks on the tray. "Shall I have someone to drive you back, Miss Jefferson?"
"No, thanks, Mr. Chanderson!"
After speaking, Angelina left the private room.
Before she could go far away, she felt dizzy and began to stagger.
"Damn it! I thought they would let me go for Mr. Luther's sake, but they still drugged me. I shouldn't have pushed my luck and drunk it," thought Angelina to herself.
Mr. Chanderson's men were still following her from behind. Angelina clenched her phone and went straight down the corridor to the restroom.
She didn't know what drug it was, but it took effect quickly. She struggled to walk to a toilet cubicle and locked the door.
Then she opened the chat box and messaged Janet.
"I'm not feeling well, and I'm in the restroom."
Gradually, she became half-conscious, and she could only barely type out the words, not realizing that she had sent the message to the wrong person.
Might Keith's and Janet's pinned chats were next to each other.
This cry for help was accidentally sent to Might Keith.
And that was, Keith.
