Chapter 102 What Should I Say?
Chapter 102 What Should I Say?
Wesley narrowed his eyes slightly.
“If you didn’t force me to donate a kidney then Colin would not have found out the truth, let alone ignore
me for so long.”
Harriet with pure hatred in her eyes gritted her teeth with every word.
“So the main culprit was you! Wesley, what exactly do I owe you? I have agreed to every condition you
raised, but why do you still not let me go? I have lost two children, lost one kidney and now I will lose
my only relative?”
Wesley bent over her and shrouded her under his figure with a sombre look in his eye.
“Harriet, don’t forget that your only relative relies on my handouts and help to survive.”
Harriet was stunned and then she pushed him rather fiercely and said, “Go away! I don’t need your
charity and I don’t want to see you ever again!”
Wesley didn’t stay there any longer. Harriet’s mental state was too unstable, if he said anymore then he
would make things worse and not to mention he couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t do something
extreme either.
After he left the ward, Jack was waiting outside the door respectfully and then reported something to
him in a low voice, “The reason for Colin’s disappearance seems to have something to do with Mrs.
Whitty, before he left Mrs. Whitty had gone to visit him.”
He paused and then continued to speak, “In addition Allen recently hired a private detective to
investigate into Harriet’s siblings.”
Wesley narrowed his eyes as if he was deep in thought.
In the evening, Molly after she had heard the news of Harriet being hospitalized rushed over to the
hospital with two of her friends Cherry and Keith.
"Harriet, I haven’t seen you in so long, why are you so thin?" Cherry said in surprise after she entered
the door. She then sat down on the edge of the bed and started to stroke Harriet’s face full of worry,
"Did something happen?"
Keith was even more shocked, “Did Wesley hurt you?”
Harriet had finally recovered and was ready to face reality so she shook her head, “I just have low
blood sugar, and it has nothing to do with him.”
“But Harriet, you haven’t been to work in a long time now. So did something happen?” Keith asked full
of concern.
As she thought about her brother she felt a great pain. But she forced a smile and said, “Thank you
both for coming here to see me, I’m very sorry that I have dragged on production for so long. If this is
really unacceptable then you can replace me if you wish.”
Keith immediately uttered, “How is that ok? That role can’t be played by anyone except you.”
After she heard his words of sincere praise, Harriet’s face revealed a smile that had not been seen for
a long time, “Don’t worry. After I have sorted out my private family matters then I will definitely come
back as early as I can.”
Cherry frowned rather uneasily and wanted to ask what was going on, “Harriet, we are your friends, if
you have anything you would like to say then tell us. Don’t take on everything on your own, as you can
see you are being hospitalized right now.”
Harriet gave a rather bitter smile.
What should she say?
Molly with red eyes next to her said, “Harriet, did Mr. Smith say anything after what happened to you?”
Harriet remembered that in Molly’s eyes, Wesley and Harriet are a pair of very suitable lovers, however
she suddenly found this very ridiculous, “What can he say? He is a big president of a company,
therefore every day he has many things he needs to deal with so he wouldn’t have time to care about
things that happen to me.”
When Molly heard this she was immediately filled with indignation, “How is he able to be like that?” You
are sick and he hasn’t come to see if you are ok? I really thought that Mr Smith was a much more
considerate person than this.”
“Mr Smith, which Mr Smith?” Cherry pretended to ask rather confused.
Molly then realized that she had let slip something she wasn’t meant to and looked at Harriet rather
guiltily.
However Harriet replied calmly, “Wesley Smith.”
She had already made up her mind that regardless if she was able to find Colin dead or alive, she
would never have anything to do with that man again. It was because she kept giving in to him and
becoming entangled with him again and again that things are now as they are. If her brother really was
dead then what did she have to fear anymore?
The room was quiet for a few seconds after what she had just said; however Cherry’s shock at what
she heard broke the silence.
“So it turns out that it is true about you and Wesley?”
“Nothing is really true or untrue; we were just in a mutually beneficial relationship.” Harriet smiled rather
indifferently, “But now I’ve decided to make a clean break with him and never contact him again, so…”
Before she had finished speaking someone knocked on the door gently, “Miss Clark, are you awake?”
Harriet frowned when she heard Jack’s voice, “What do you want?”
Jack pushed open the door and saw that there were a few more people in the ward. It was not
particularly surprising and as always, he pushed the dining cart in and said: "This was specially ordered
by Mr. Smith for you. I will arrange nursing staff to come check on you later. Please rest after dinner."
Harriet sneered and said, “What is this? It’s not like I’m stuck paralyzed on my bed anymore.”
“It was Mr. Smith’s instructions.” Jack had no expression on his face as he said this, he then lowered
his head and left.
When the door closed again Molly looked pleased, “Harriet, It seems that Mr. Smith really does still
care about you? How come you two have both broken up? You both need to communicate again if
there are any more problems between the two of you.”
“I have nothing to say to him.” Harriet had a cold expression on her face, “Do you really think this is him
being concerned? Molly, some men are not as simple as you think.”
Because Harriet was not in a good mood, no one mentioned Wesley again and after they spent the rest
of the day with her they eventually left in the evening.
Keith had just left the inpatient building and was about to get in his car when he suddenly heard
Cherry’s voice behind him.
“Cherry, do you want me to drive you?” Since he had just got in his car and then saw her, he felt that All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
the gentleman thing to do would be to offer her a ride.
Cherry didn’t refuse and got straight into the car.
After he had drove for a short distance, she suddenly said either intentionally or not, “Keith, just now
when we went to visit Harriet I saw Miss Jones.”
Keith was surprised, “She was in the hospital too?”
“Yes, and also…” Cherry stopped halfway through her sentence and then let out a heavy sigh, “I know
why Harriet has so much resentment towards Mr. Smith. If it were me then I would also be very upset.”
Keith listened to what she said and then immediately asked, “What happened? Did Louisa before make
things difficult for Harriet or something?”
Cherry shook her head and looked very worried, “She doesn’t need to make things difficult for Harriet,
she just needs to make Harriet feel bad and uncomfortable. She is pregnant now so what place does
Harriet have to be by Mr Smith’s side? Although I have no objection to Harriet liking Mr. Smith, however
in the end nothing can ever happen between them anymore.”
Keith frowned and thought deeply to himself.
Louisa was pregnant? Since it undoubtedly must be Wesley’s, it was no wonder that Harriet was so
absent minded earlier.
No he was not going to back down and stay out of the way again; he was not going to let Harriet
continue to stay with such an irresponsible man.
“Well if it weren’t for me accidently hearing the nurses’ talk about it then I never would have known this
happened. It also seems that the Jones family do not plan on disclosing their daughter’s pregnancy. If
this carries on then could it be they don’t plan on holding a wedding? This would mean that Harriet
would not be able to free herself away from him?”
Cherry’s voice was full of worry for Harriet. However, God knew she didn't hear about this accidentally.
When she went to the bathroom, she deliberately took some money to bribe a caregiver who looked
after Louisa, so she could then inquire about the situation more clearly.
Sure enough Keith didn’t say anything after he heard this and seemed to be thinking deeply about
something.
After she had achieved her purpose, she stopped talking about this and casually shifted the topic of
conversation onto something else.
