Chapter 2723
Chapter 2723
Leah paused. “Aina wasn’t his girlfriend?”
Then why did he… Hold on! The interpreter said that Dennis was single. He didn’t have a girlfriend and wasn’t married, so why wouldn’t they make it public if Aina was his girlfriend?
‘No one in the department knows about it?”
Morrison chuckled. “He has so many women in his contacts. Who knows which one you’re talking about? But from what I see, he’s planning to make you his next target.”
Leah was stunned and looked over at this face. “You know him well?”
“There’s no secret that the Night Banquet fails to uncover. There’s no such thing as tight lips.”
The lights shone in through the window, illuminating the car now and then.
Leah was quiet for a long moment before saying. “I saw ligature marks on Aina’s wrists, and she seemed to be very afraid of Dennis. She told me not to trust him.”
She wasn’t planning to, anyway. Even though Dennis had told her that Aina had cheated on him and
betrayed him, he was probably worried that she would say something to hurt his reputation.
Was he only worried that she would tarnish his reputation? If she really did cheat on him, why would he be worried that she would try to defame him?
Morrison frowned. “Why are you up in someone’s business?”
“I can’t just let it go. I think Dennis did something to her.”
Morrison said, “Don’t just believe anyone.”
Leah fell silent after that.
When they got to her apartment, she got out and turned back because something had come to her mind.” Thanks for coming to get me, free driver. Are you interested in supper?”
Morrison got out of the car. “Are you buying?”
She smiled. “Think of it as the fare.”
The two people bought some barbecued meat and snacks from China Town and then bought a few cans of beer before returning to the apartment. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Morrison wasn’t shy at all.
Leah smiled and said, “You don’t mind staying at a woman’s home anymore?”
He paused, then looked up. “You asked me to stay. Are you asking me to leave now?”
She picked up a skewer of meat. “Not at all.”
She then picked up the beer can, clinked it to his, and downed it before he even started.
Morrison looked at her. “You… didn’t have enough to drink there?”
“I didn’t really eat during the party. I didn’t feel like eating because I wasn’t comfortable when he was around.” She wasn’t very happy about that. “He seems pretentious. I tried so hard not to question him when I saw the marks on Aina’s wrists.”
Morrison laughed and slowly drank his beer. “You need to fix this problem with you being nosy.”
“You’re nosy about my business too.”
She might have drunk too much, or maybe it was the lighting. She found Morrison looking better and as if everything about him was nice.
He had pale skin and beautiful features, and his temper was unpredictable but not annoying. Most importantly, he was more reliable than anyone she knew.
“I’m not nosy about you…” Morrison looked up and saw her gawking at him, then squinted. “Are you… drunk?”
Leah looked down. “Don’t worry, not yet.”
Morrison took her can away. “Stop drinking.”
She burped. “What are you afraid of?”
Morrison moved the can away from her and said, “I’m afraid that you might get drunk and take advantage of me.”
She chuckled, but suddenly her laughter turned into tears. Morrison didn’t know what to do, so he went over in front of her and squatted down. “Hey, why are you crying?”
