Chapter 6 A Penalty of 1 Million Dollars
Tina felt like being slapped by someone, and her ears were buzzing.
She stayed still. The doctor looked at her and thought she might be afraid. He said coldly, "It's just a
simple hygiene check. Lie down and take off your pants. I'll take a sample."
Tina grabbed her pants tightly. She forced herself to calm down and tried to get herself ready.
"Just take it as a free physical examination. It doesn't matter." She told herself.
She lay down without any expression and almost knew what Samuel wanted.
The cotton swab scratched slightly. It was very fast.
Tina stood up numbly, and found that her feet were numb in a minute. Her legs were trembling.
She was not fear, but angry.
"You can go now. I will give the report to Mr. Carter."
Tina didn't respond. She straightened her clothes and walked out as calmly as possible.
She sat in the corridor for a while and collected her thoughts.
Samuel felt that she had been stained by Louis, so he asked her to check whether she got the disease.
She took a deep breath and was quite angry. Suddenly, her mobile phone rang. Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
It was Samuel.
Tina wiped her face, controlled her trembling voice, and said, "Mr. Langford."
"Is the examination finished?" The man's voice was cold and calm.
Tina stared at herself reflected on the opposite wall and said coldly, "I have resigned. You don't need to
arrange a physical examination for me."
A sneer came from the mobile phone.
Samuel asked her in his usual tone, "Haven't you read the mail yet?"
Tina frowned and a bad feeling came to her, "I..."
The man stopped her and said, "Come at eight. I will go back."
Then there was only a beep on the phone.
Tina couldn't wait but checked the mail with her mobile phone directly.
It was the reply sent by the Human Resources Department. There was only a screenshot, and that was
a contract.
The party terminated this contract within the five-year term of office should pay a penalty of 1 million
dollars.
Tina's pupils dilated. She felt as if she was in an ice cellar, and was shivering with cold.
When she just joined the company, she was a newbie and did not know well about the contract
specifications. But she was sure that there was no such item in the contract.
No, she had worked for Samuel several years, and had signed numerous contracts.
It was possible that Samuel did something and she might have sold herself unconsciously.
It was less than three months before the five-year term ended.
Tina calmed herself down, stood up, and soon figured out a plan with the least loss in her mind.
She must get through the last three months, otherwise she must have many troubles with the penalty.
She did inner game for herself all the way and tried to digest the sense of shame in her heart. However,
it was like the smell of disinfected water in the hospital and stuck to her.
She went home and took a bath. After rubbing her whole body, she felt the sense of shame gradually
dissipated with the smell of disinfected water and settled into the deepest part of her heart.
She spent time on her mobile phone numbly until dark and took a taxi to Samuel's house.
When she reached his house, she put her finger on the lock.
"Invalid fingerprint"
The mechanical voice was cold and heartless. Tina gave a faint sigh, wrapped her clothes tightly, and
sat down on the steps.
She could leave or go to the opposite coffee shop and wait for him. But that would only make Samuel
angrier. She couldn't bear his anger, so she could only bear the cold wind at eight o'clock.
It was getting darker and darker. After nine o'clock, Tina felt a little dizzy. And a strong beam of light
came over. She soon get fully awake at this moment.
Samuel got off the car. Through the strong light, he saw the woman huddling herself on the steps.
She was like a stray dog, like a few years ago.
There was a strange feeling in his heart. He walked over and stood in front of her, "How long have you
been waiting?"
"From 7:40." Tina said calmly, without any anger.
That strange feeling in Samuel's heart was soon wiped away by her calm tone. He looked away and
went up the steps.
Tina raised her head and followed him without any expression.
After entering the living room, Samuel took off his coat and threw it on the sofa. Then he untied the
cufflinks slowly with his head down.
He ignored Tina and went upstairs.
After a day's meeting, he felt uncomfortable all over. Of course, he had to take a bath first.
There were sounds of footsteps following up behind him, not far or near. And it stopped at the door.
Samuel smiled derisively. He took off his clothes naturally, and walked into the bathroom naked.
