Chapter 49
The day before Sydney had been working on some files which had been given to her so as she got to the office that morning Paxton made no delay I to usehering to the room filled with people.
“Yes Sydney enter” he beckoned as he could see her shadow from the glass door hedor she could knock.
As she entered she was the centre of attention at the moment and she couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable as she felt the eyes looking at her we’re kind of “judgie”.
” Where are the files you were working in yesterday?” Paxton finally asked bringing her out of her deep thoughts.
“Here the thing is I had destroyed the files sir” she responded as she brought forward the destroyed documents in hand and somehow her head bent low.
“Why would you destroy those documents? We were supposed to use them how could you destroy them Sydney?” Paxton now irritated asked although he was trying to calm himself down form flaming up more .
“I felt they weren’t making any sense and thought my ideas where not good enough for the contract” she responded this time locking eyes with Paxton.
When he looked at her eyes he kind of felt calm about the entire situation, he felt a certain calm but he couldn’t show it to those around him.
“You know how important these things are and how they are supposed to work, if you have the destroyed documents can you bring them forward so we could see what ‘nonsense’ you claim to have written?” he said making some air quotes as he knew she couldn’t possibly be super dumb.
Everyone’s eyes where still on her waiting for her to produce the documents she had possibly destroyed.
“I can’t possibly bring them back sir, because I have destroyed the original sample and I can not retrieve them back, I used the shredding machine to do that and even if we were to piece each to each it wouldn’t make sense” she explained.
“Don’t you have them in soft copy on the. computer or something?” Paxton asked this time trying to understand what exactly it was that she had done and if she didn’t do the work on her laptop or something.
Sydney sure knew she was in a mess because she had indeed destroyed on both ends and although she knew how stupid that sounded she was scared of the consequences she was going to da e at the moment.
She was in a mess and somehow she zoomed into her own small world inside her h3ax trying to find a solution to the already damned situation.
Paxton knew Sydney was not incompetent, far from that she was an intelligent lass reason why when he saw her in deep thoughts he knew for a fact that she was thinking of a way to savage the situation but that was not a necessary move to do at the moment as she had to give an answer to the board of directors who were all present.
Looking at her with scavenging eyes waiting for her to slip and tell them what they didn’t want to hear but she was not going to give them the satisfaction of that, not now not ever.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Well what do we get to do to help the situation since you have destroyed what could be used for it?” one of those who were at the office board room spoke.
For a moment Paxton turn to look at the man in question giving him the eyes which suggested that he was in co tell of the situation and she had to answer to him and not anyone else.
“I’ll go on to rewrite a new copy of what has been lost and if I am given till midday I would surely have come up with something lucrative” Sydney said looking around the table.
Some giving her the eyes of judgement while others seemed to sit well with what she had asked them to do.
“Shall we have a vote for those who give till midday for her to be done with the contract?” Paxton asked and a majority raised thief hands and the rest raised their hands for not being in sync with what they had just said.
“I hope midday would be the best time for you to come up with something lucrative?” one of the men asked as he smiled at Sydney seeing that she was nervous.
But as I’m would have it, the majority always won the vote.
“You have till midday to wow us and I hope and believe and trust that the second chance you have been given would wow us and make us get this contract” Paxton said and Sydney gave a nervous smile as she exited the room and decided to go get the work done.
She excused herself and left for her office with many strategies in place of what she had chosen to write this time as the proposal.
There was no telling as to why she had trashed the other, she had felt under the weather and had felt like she just wasn’t the proper person to write out such a humongous proposal but given the fact that she had been given the second opportunity to amend her mistake she was going to take it seriously and was given just at least three hours.
Well she gave herself three hours because she chose midday meaning she was challenging herself to be great and good by the time she had assigned herself.
As she sat on her desk, it dwaned on her she was in a dilemma and was trying to get herself together so she would he able to get the proposal done before that time.
As she bent down on her computer…
Paxton entered the office without knocking.
When she raised her head she saw him and panicked.
“Any problem sir?” she asked standing.
“You could finish at the end of the day, I’ll stall for you” he said and left the office without waiting for a response.
