Chapter 22 Making Money
Chapter 22 Making Money
After a day at home trying to figure out where to move, I got a call from my female boss. She said she
knew about my recent situation and asked if she could come to work the next day.
I thought about it and said yes.
Leaving Gavin aside, I have been working here a long time and have started to get comfortable with my
work and life. Constant change is not good for me or the baby. Since I have been given this chance to
make amends, I might take it.
Only when I went to work the next day, what I expected happened.
I came early, at first nothing happened. But then more and more people came. No matter who came,
they greeted me. There were some people whose names I could not even tell. They were very
enthusiastic about me, and I felt uncustomed.
When it came time for lunch, Judy, who had been sitting next to me, quietly asked me what I had to do
with Gavin.
I knew that I must make it clear to her, or there would be more equivocal conjecture. I said, "Mr. Stone
and I met by chance. He helped me and I helped him. We have a certain friendship."
Judy said, her eyes sparkling, "Oh my god, you met by chance and helped each other! Isn't this the
bossy CEO's romance story?"
I said, "No, not so. We really met by chance."
"Sister Darcey, don't be so modest. Mr. Stone has pleaded for you. Can you still have an ordinary
relationship?"
She was about to jeer when a cold voice came behind us. It was my female senor, Ms. Hemsworth.
She said, "Have you eaten yet? If you don't take a break, start working."
As soon as Judy and the others saw Ms. Hemsworth, they went away for dinner together. I smiled
helplessly at Ms. Hemsworth and said, "I'm sorry."
Ms. Hemsworth said, "It's nothing, but since you're staying, you should work hard. Don't think about
those useless things."
I nodded and she left.
Although my job was kept, my burden was not relieved a bit.
My father's debt was paid off, but his subordinate workers were still there and their wages had yet to be
paid. It was all their hard-earned money, and my father didn't want them to get the short end of the
stick, so he had to bite the bullet.
I agreed with my father, and also wanted to help him share the burden. Plus the one million I owed
Gavin, I really need to find a part-time job.
I searched through the internet and met a few young girls. They were all university students with a lot of
information about the part-time job. Sometimes they helped me with the offer.
On Sunday, Barbara told me she had a part-time job offer for being a waitress in the hotel. She asked if
I would like to go. I thought that since I had nothing to do and was short of money, and I was never
afraid of tiredness and dirtiness, so I agreed.
The wedding ceremony was always grand. No matter the rich or the poor. I did not even have the time
to rest after working for half a day.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Barbara had been living in the same district with me. She suddenly looked at me and said, "Darcey,
you don't look well. Are you uncomfortable?"
I smiled and said casually, "I'm fine. Maybe I'm too tired."
After Barbara was called away, I had to serve dishes for the whole area along.
"Darcey?"
Suddenly I heard someone calling me, and I turned around reflexively and realized it was Gavin! I
turned back immediately and said d*mn it in my mind.
But Gavin did not leave. Instead, he came closer and called my name again to confirm. I had no choice
but to look up in embarrassment.
Gavin said, "It's you. I didn't mistake you for someone else."
I said, "Mr. Stone is always smart. Nothing can hide from you."
