Chapter 1410 Transferring Shares
"I know, so I've only transferred half of the shares. Apart from having a voting right at future board meetings, it won't affect anything else. She'll still gain experience at the grassroots level until she's ready to take on greater responsibilities."
Mark's voice was deep and serious, carrying significant weight.
No one present dared to interject, yet their dissatisfaction was clearly evident. "Mr. Olsen..."
"If she doesn't perform well, I will reclaim the shares. But if she does well, I'll transfer the other half to her."
His resolute tone indicated he had long prepared for this.
While his words were firm, given Josie's abilities and Mark's favoritism toward her, Olsen Group was inevitably destined to belong to Josie.
Laura tightened her grip on the pen in her hand, her gaze falling on Josie. Josie showed no reaction, appearing calm as if she had known all along. She was the only one who didn't know.
"I disagree." At the far end of the long table, an elder of the same age as Mark slowly voiced his opinion.
As soon as someone dissented, there were immediate voices of agreement. "Mr. Groff, you should advise Mr. Olsen."
Mark looked over. "Declan, why?"
Declan Groff had a slight limp and needed to use a cane to walk. Gripping the handle, he pointed directly at Josie. "Because her surname is Warren, not Olsen!"
Silence ensued.
"A girl who hasn't even changed her surname, wanting to take over the entire Wen family? Old Wen, I think you're the one who's lost your marbles!" Josie lowered her gaze, a slight smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
"Declan, that's a one-sided view. In recent years, I've been in poor health, and Laura has been managing the group. She's done a good job." The implication was that if Laura, a complete outsider was acceptable, then why not Josie?
"I don't approve of this girl either. But considering her years of toil without recognition, I won't say much. But
Josie is absolutely not suitable.
As
an outsider, she harbors ill intentions
and doesn't even deserve tentions
opportunity to gain experience!"
The words were harsh, and for a moment, the entire meeting room fell silent. One could even hear breathing sounds.
Mark's calm expression gradually became serious. "Anyone else disagrees? Raise your hand."
Declan was the first one.
The remaining individuals hesitated for a while before slowly raising their hands. For a moment, almost everyone did so, except for Laura who did not raise her hand. Mark watched the scene unfold before him. He took a deep breath and almost couldn't recover.
Josie noticed his condition. "Be careful."
Mark closed his eyes briefly, then, with Josie's support, stood up, his voice resounding. "I'll leave it at that today. The share transfer
has been signed by me, and the
lawyer's notarization has the te
been
completed. I'm here today just to inform you. The shares are mine, and how I decide to use them is none of your concern."
Laura also stood up, seemingly unable to hold back. "Dad, shouldn't we have discussed this matter together?"
Mark glanced at her, offering no response.
He continued, "I hold forty percent of the shares, more than any of you here. I believe my decisions are not up for your interference. Josie, let's go."
The board meeting had just begun, yet it had reached its climax.
At the end of the long corridor, Josie was supporting Mark, a slight frown on her face. "Wasn't that a bit too reckless?"
Last night in Mark's study at the Olsen Residence, Josie had also opposed Mark's decision. Even though she knew he had this intention, feeling it firsthand still shook her.
After half a lifetime of hard work, he was giving it all away.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
