Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 352

Chapter 352

Luca’s POV

“Did you or did you not lend a huge sum of money from the boss?” I watched as Luffy, the head of the

questioning team demanded in an icy voice while vigorously shaking the man in his grip.

Romeo.

That was his name.

Romeo Satori.

bankrupt, after my men had investigated and found out that he had been telling the truth, I had done

what a mafia lord was supposed to do to his underbosses in need – I agreed to lend him the money,

and he agreed to pay back the money with added interest.

“Fucking answer me, you dimwit.” Luffy growled as he delivered a punch on Romeo’s jaw.

Romeo let out a sob after that.

“Yes, yes, I did.”

“And then, you thought running away was the next best option to carry out after you were unable to

return the money as agreed?” Luffy demanded and I watched as Romen quaked in fear. Tears were

pouring down his face and he was trembling, while throwing glances at me every few seconds.

“I s- swear, I’m s- still looking for the money, b- but…” Romen stumbled over his words which made

James scoff in irritation beside me.

“Does he really think we’re here for the money?” James asked me with a snort.

I pushed off the wall I had been leaning against since I made my way in here, walking towards Romeo

until I was standing before him. Romeo’s eyes widened comically after that, his pleas increasing

drastically.

I motioned for Luffy to let him go, and in the next moment, Romen was let to fall roughly by my feet. He

scrambled into a kneeling posture instantly, hands clasped before him as he sobbed.

“Please Mr Ricci, I never wanted to run away, I wasn’t running away, I was trying to gather some

money, I’m still going to pay back every dime that I’m supposed to, I swear to you, sir.” He was

earnestly speaking through his sobs, and when I didn’t respond after that, he decided to continue.

“I’ll even add more money, in order to pay for stressing you out to the extent of coming to find you,

please don’t kill me, I promise to pay yo–“.

“Shut up, Romeo.” My voice was low as I spoke and Romeo instantly froze up, words dying on his

tongue in an instant. His eyes was wide as he regarded me with terror dancing over his face.

I slowly leaned down until I was crouching before him, and then I reached into my suit jacket to fish out

my gun.

A gasp left Romeo’s lips and he quickly lowered his gaze while trembling harder, but I tsked as I

reached out and lifted his chin up with the tip of my gun.

A terrified squeak left his mouth as he had no other choice than to stare into my eyes, and now, the

terror on his face was ten times starker, it was obvious that he now knew my reason for showing up

here.

If it had only been because he was owing me some money and had decided to be stupid enough to run

away, then my men would have been the ones to take care of it.

Like James had said, I had shown up here today because of something else.

“I’m only going to ask you once, Romeo.” I paused and then I removed the safety from the gun, and

Romeo’s mouth fell open in fright.

“Did you sell me out?”

Another round of sweat has broken out on Romeo and he instantly began to stumble over his words,

glancing at everywhere but at my eyes, hands clenched hard on his thighs while his entire body

trembled earnestly.

He broke out into sobs after a few fleeting seconds and I let out a chuckle that didn’t sound funny in

any way, instead, it only made Romeo sob harder.

“Why?” I asked after that.

Romeo was someone who had been working alongside me for decades, he was the least person I’d

ever expect to betray me.

This is exactly why it’s never advised to trust people here in the mafia.

After I had returned back from Los Angeles with Sofia, I had begun to look into the blown off condo and

who could be behind it. It took a whole lot of digging before every tail and bits of information I could buy

and force out of people, led me to one of my underbosses and one who was part of the generals of the

mafia.

“I wasn’t thinking, I swear, I regretted it immediately, I–”

I lifted a finger against my lips which shushed him instantly. There was no use going over all those,

because the deed was already done.

Had Sofia and I returned back to that condo that night, we’d have been blown up with the condo that

night.

And the fact that Sofia would have been with me when that had happened, was what made me so

damn furious.

“Who sent you?” I asked in a calm voice even though anger was trimming through my veins at this very

moment.

“I –” He stumbled over his words and I cut him off. “I dare you to lie to me.

He spilled after that, revealing that it had been a planned work involving him and two more of the

underbosses, as well as two other neighboring mafia lords.

“Of course it had been a planned work.” I mused with a crackle and then I pushed myself to my feet,

while Romeo’s pleas began to intensify once again.

“Call the entire underbosses, tell them we’re to have a meeting tonight at Persona.” I said to James as I

pocketed my gun.

“What do we do with him, boss?” Luffy asked while gesturing to Romeo.

“We’re bringing him along.” I said, just as Romeo's cry increased in volumes. A punch from Luffy

silenced him instantly.

“The call has been made, and the meeting has been scheduled for nine p.m.” James informed me once

he came back into the room and I nodded my head in thanks to him.

“We’re definitely going to have so much fun tonight.” James snickered and I breathed out a small laugh

in response.
