Chapter 844
Half an hour, huh...
It turned out that the so-called "half an hour", and "something to discuss with Trevor" that he mentioned were... sl*t hunting?
Of course! Which man wouldn't love being in a place filled with beautiful women? It must be better than being with a boring woman like her!
How long had it been, anyway?
Men were all filthy creatures!
In an instant, she felt as if she was abandoned by the whole world. She crossed her arms and rubbed on both sides of her shivering shoulders. At that moment, Lauren's fragile heart was filled with unrelieved emotions.
Her mind was filled with images of him mingling with all kinds of women, chatting and laughing away happily. She couldn't tell if he was just putting on a show or not. However, Lauren was clearly aware that Willy was on the other side of the spectrum from what she knew.
She and he were not from the same world at all!
The images flashing through her mind were still the scene in the narrow and dark cell. Lauren suddenly realized that she was just like the frog in a well. In her small, narrow world, this man had entered her life and filled her entire world with remnants of him.
When she walked out of her world, her horizons were broadened to a greater extent, while the deity in her eyes had completely changed.
He didn't belong to her!
His world was filled with vibrant colors, yet her world was only black and white. There wasn't even much grey; her shades were so monotonous that it was simply impossible to harmonize with him.
At that moment, Lauren's mind completely toppled.
From her various past experiences, Zedd's betrayal, the never- ending rumors to having to face the man's deliberate or unintentional teasing and bullying... all these merged in an instant and turned into tears in her eyes. The tears stayed still in her eyes, never rolling down her face. They were stuck in her eyes, and in her heart.
Walking out of the hotel door, she had the same feeling as how she felt the first time she had walked out of the house, dragging a luggage behind her; she was lonely, sad and abandoned.
The world was huge, yet it seemed like she belonged nowhere.
The path ahead was full of confusion again. It was a terrible feeling!
She stood at the door. Lauren didn't know what was the meaning of her being alive. But she knew that no matter how many hardships she encountered, she would have to stay strong and keep on living. Her mother was still watching her from above. She couldn't just give up - her mother would be so sad if she did!
She closed her eyes, her mind still filled with her mother's beautiful face, her serene smile, and the image of her crying in her arms when they hugged for the first time.
"Lauren, my Laurie, my little baby, thank god..."
"If something really happened to you, how can Mommy live without you?"
"As long as you're alive, I'll be the happiest wherever I am."
"Baby, baby, my sweetheart, Mommy will always love you."
"Mommy will always be with you, stay strong!"
That was the only complete memory she had of her mother. At the time, she was still a playful child. She had been seriously ill and had a fever for a few days, which even led to pneumonia. When she woke up, her mother hugged her in her arms and cried her heart out. That was the first time she saw her mom with tears all over her face. Later, when her father cheated, her mother secretly shed tears; she had never cried in front of Lauren. She still cooked for Lauren, and took care of everything in the family, and even knitted a sweater for her father.
She never understood why her father would cheat on such a gorgeous and talented woman.
Her mom had been a professor at a university. When she was a child, she had learned a lot from her mother under her influence. Her habit of reading books had also been cultivated by her mother!
It was a man, who had ruined the life of her dear mother!
Clenching her fists in anger, hatred emerged from the bottom of Lauren's eyes. When she came to her senses, she was awakened by a burst of laughter.
"How could it be? You must be mistaken! Our relationship is going well, and he loves me very much. He listens to everything I say and treats me well! Isn't it because of his cousin's matter? How could he leave without helping?"
"Yeah! I think so too! Halley, I envy you so much! You are born into such a good family, and are married to a great husband, unlike me, who found an unappealing man and had to struggle alongside him! Oh, but when I think of how he woke up at three o'clock in the middle of the night just to buy me barbecue kebab, I feel like it's all worth it! It's fine even though we have less money! I'm also used to his ugliness! If I really left him, my future would become an uncertain blur; I don't even
know how am I going to live without him! Oh no, let's continue next time, he's here to pick me up. Why did he bring egg tarts again? I'm already getting chubby, didn't I say we should stop eating it already?"
After looking at the woman with a slightly plump figure who got into the car while holding the man's hand, Lauren's eyes fell on Hallie, who dressed glamorously yet sported a pale and embarrassed face. She had captured a noticeable trace of envy from her slightly disgusted expression.
There was no such thing as perfection! Although this man might not be handsome, it was obvious that the two of them were happy.
Lauren was also envious, but she didn't understand why Hallie had to do this. With her outstanding traits, why did she have to pretend that she was happy?
She just didn't get it! Sure enough, everyone had their crosses to bear!
While she was pondering deeply about this, a sharp gaze suddenly fell on her. The next second, Hallie walked straight over with an aggressive look on her face.
"What are you looking at? You've been dumped, haven't you?"
Hallie squinted at her sarcastically, raised her chin, and looked at her with schadenfreude.
"What's so impressive about being his girlfriend? Willy has tons of them! How could you even dream of being with him? Do you know who he is? There are a ton of nightclubs operating under him while he's always surrounded by beautiful women. I suggest you stop dreaming!"
"I'm just kindly reminding you to learn from me -find yourself a good man, and get married quickly! Willy's businesses are something beyond what you can imagine! He's one of The Four Great Masters of Casterwich City after all. Do you think you deserve him? You think too highly of yourself!"Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
"Do men like second-hand goods? Let's see how wasted you will be in the future!"
With a tsk', Hallie turned around and strode away in her high heels. Her sharp fingernails almost pierced through her palm, and her eyes were burning with anger.
If she had to suffer, so did Lauren!
After venting her anger, the corners of her mouth even raised a little.
While she got berated by Hallie, Lauren never uttered a word. She felt as if she was looking at a clown's back as she watched Hallie strut away. There was only pity in her heart.
She didn't want to be like her. Lauren turned around, looked at the starry sky above and took a deep breath as she thought, "I still have options, I should take it as a lesson and not follow her old path!"
It didn't really matter! All she had to do was start over again! She used to be all alone, but she no longer had to feel lonely again.
Unconsciously, she touched her belly. When she thought it through, Lauren picked up her pace and walked downstairs. As she reached the exit and was trying to hail herself a taxi, she stood there, completely dumbstruck.
Where could she go? And where exactly should she go?
The key thing was that she didn't even have a penny on her!
