Chapter 33
After helping Mrs. Clements plant vegetables in the backyard of the Clements family's mansion, Alicia watered them one by one. Alicia went outside the fence after everything was cleaned up.
"Grandma, is this all right? Do I need to do it again?" Alicia asked.
Miranda, who was in charge of serving Mrs. Clements, looked at it and nodded while standing aside. Mrs. Clements also smiled instantly.
"Good, very good! Ally, you are really amazing! You are so much stronger than us old people. Come here. Go and wash your hands!" Mrs. Clements said.
"Alright!"
After keeping away the tools and taking off her shoes, Alicia ran to the faucet for watering flowers and used it to wash her feet. Mrs. Clements and Miranda glanced at each other and smiled.
When they entered the kitchen, Alicia saw a small basket on the table with something that looked like grass in it. "Grandma, is this the wild vegetable your best friend gave you?"
It was no wonder that Mrs. Clements wanted to grow vegetables in the yard all of a sudden after she came back from visiting her friends.
"Yes! This is wild spinach. Wild spinach is the most delicious and fresh in March! My friend likes to eat it, hence, she planted them in her house. Therefore, this is a homegrown wild vegetable! Ally, do you know how to cook ravioli? Let's eat ravioli today! But, we have to do it ourselves! Miranda, teach her so that she can help you. Hurry up! I don't know how to roll the dough. I only know how to eat! Frederick, just like me, likes ravioli the most!"
As Mrs. Clements spoke, Miranda began to teach Alicia how to pick vegetables. Alicia could make ravioli, but she had never seen wild vegetables. Thus, she didn't know how to make it from scratch.
The two of them started getting busy in the kitchen. Mrs. Clements was chatting while standing beside them, making the atmosphere lively. When Miranda went to make the stuffing, Alicia began to knead the dough.
She kept asking while kneading the dough, "Is this enough?".
"That's enough! Knead it softer. To make ravioli, we need to knead it softly. As for the harder dough, they are used in making noodles!" Mrs. Clements answered.
"Understood!"
She was used to doing house chores. Even if it was an unfamiliar chore, she could get used to it easily. Suddenly, Alicia was a little grateful for the three years of experience. Previously, she really did not have to do any house chores. Not only did she never knead the dough, but she also did not even know how to cook instant noodles. However, she, at present, could even make a dinner that can be served to others. She did not dare to say that it was perfect in the sense of color, aroma, and taste, but
at least it was edible.
Alicia and Miranda got to work, and Mrs. Clements helped out from time to time. They were very fast. After a while, there were rows of delicious-looking ravioli placed on the pastry board.
After Miranda had gone to cook the ravioli, Alicia washed her hands and set the table before taking some time to cut fruits. She was busy in and out of the kitchen without any arrogance or complaints. Her every movement was unhurried and elegant. Even if she was wearing an apron, she could not hide her dazzling aura.
Mrs. Clements narrowed her eyes and asked, 'Ally, how long have you known Frederick? Did he bully you? Did he go home on time every day?".
"Huh? Grandma..." Alicia hesitated.
Mrs. Clements's words sounded casual, but every question had a deeper meaning. Since Alicia wasn't sure what Frederick had told Grandma all this while, Alicia didn't know how to answer her, not even a single question. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"What's there to hesitate about? Tell me the truth, I'll back you up!"
"Grandma, you are so kind and friendly. Owing to you, Frederick grew up to be so excellent. What can I be picky about?" Alicia replied.
Alicia was clever enough to admit everything without saying anything in fact. She even added a compliment. She made Mrs. Clements laugh and feel happy.
"You little girl. You know how to sweet-talk. You are really good at making me delighted!" Mrs. Clements
replied.
Alicia was sensible! She was good at socializing and could keep secrets well at the same time! No wonder Frederick, who had never taken any women seriously, had treated her differently! Presumably, she must have her forte!
"Grandma-"
Alicia's mobile phone rang just as she was speaking. When she saw it, she said quickly, "Grandma, it's Frederick! I... I'll take this call!"
