Chapter 1269
"Alas..."noveldrama
Troubled, Willy didn't expect things to turn out that way. He shook his head and sighed subconsciously. "Great, I got her upset again. How did I end up on such a bad term with a kid?"
It wasn't until he felt a light tug coming from his leg that he remembered there was still a familiar child. He then immediately squatted down. "Isn't anyone from home picking you up?"
"Aunt is over there!"
Looking over in the direction she pointed at, Willy saw the car and nanny on the side and immediately took Fleur over.
After running away in one breath, tears of grievance began pooling in Yvette's eyes again. Seeing that none of the cars from her home were around, she habitually walked over to the small path aside and sat down on a boulder, wiping her tears away. Right then, a pebble was kicked near to her feet, brushing against her white leather shoe.
Looking up, she saw a tall, slender boy, wearing the same school uniform as her, slinging a backpack on one shoulder. He looked to be her senior. Right then, he seemed to be laughing at her. Glaring at him with wide eyes, Yvette stood up and kicked the pebble back at him, and lo and behold, landed on his black socks.
Following that, she sat back down with her backpack in her arms and even patted her skirt ladylike. After taking a gander at the side of his feet, Clinton walked over to her and kicked her shoe.
"Hey, you've got some nerve! You're that... little witch with a pet snake?"
Yvette shot right up at that and kicked him back. "I'm not a little witch; I have a name! Who are you?! So rude. Go away!"
"What's your name then?"
"Why should I tell you?"
"I'll keep calling you little witch if you don't tell me. Little witch! Little witch! Little witch with a pet snake..." The boy poked her puffy cheeks as he teased.
Livid, Yvette suddenly burst into tears.
"Meanie! Meanie! All of you bully me! Bree didn't hurt anyone, and me too. Bree is good; it only eats mice. Why don't you guys like Bree? Big bird took Bree away. I don't have Bree anymore, but you guys still say this. Wah... You're all meanies..."
"I didn't do anything to you; why do you have to kick me? And even call me a little witch?"
"You're the big monster, big meanie! Did your mommy never tell you boys cannot bully girls? Even Tommy won't bully me; he said he'd protect me..." "You're a meanie; I don't want to talk to you! Hmph!"
Wiping her tears, Yvette picked up her pouch on the floor. She stopped crying by then, only shooting a glare at the boy with a pout before running away.
"Hey..."
Clinton found his first experience of making a girl cry was rather fun. He had thought the rumored little witch who could scare a trafficker away was some hideous hag. Who would've thought she was a little beauty with an attitude?!
Right then, the butler's anxious voice came. "Young Master, what are you doing here? You really scared me. Time to go home!"
"Sure."
Turning around, Clinton answered indifferently and kept all his emotions away, walking composedly over to the car aside, looking like an adult. The butler quickly followed behind, looking more like he was led by the child rather than being the one to pick him up.
After running over to the side of the road in one breath, Yvette looked up and saw Lauren stepping out of her car, trotting over.
"Mommy... Mommy!"
Lauren was very anxious when her car scraped someone else's on the road and even met with bad traffic. But seeing Yvette charging at her right as she got out of the car, she jogged over to her for fear she'd run around.
"Yvette, watch the cars! Don't run! Wait up!"
Reaching Yvette in no time, she took her bag and noticed her eyes were puffy like she had been crying. Hugging her baby girl, she wiped her face. "Sorry for being late! Did you get anxious waiting? Oh, you poor thing!"
Yvette shook her head as she hugged Lauren, smiling foolishly. "I'm happy. I like Mommy picking me up! Let's go home, Mommy! Let's go, let's go..." "I'm hungry! Mommy, make something for me!"
Yvette was all enthusiastic as he held her mother's hand, smiling. Lauren was joyous as well. Seeing her child every day, it was as if all the flowers in her world bloomed simultaneously.
"Okay, slow down. Watch your step!"
After sending Fleur away, Willy
subconsciously returned and looked around for the little girl, trying his luck. He'd get her another Barbie doll and make her happy if he could. But by the time he saw the familiartiny figure again, it was a stunning silhouette carrying the child into a car. Standing under the sun, Willy was stumped for a moment.
Laurie? Was that Laurie?
Willy squinted his eyes then rubbed them hard, but by the time he opened his eyes again and rushed ahead, the black car had disappeared at the intersection...
Stopping in his tracks, he instantly became a deflated balloon. "What is up with me?" Why did every woman look like Laurie?
That little girl... Were his eyes playing tricks on him?
Receiving a heavy blow, and his mind was a mess, Willy was like a defeated fighting rooster, looking all decadent. Depressed, no longer having the mood for anything, he returned to his car with a slumped shoulder.
He had really gone mad. Why did he come and torture himself?
He originally should have a child her age!

Returning home, Lauren did a quick change and dove into the kitchen. Ever since having Yvette, cooking had become one of her hobbies for no other reason than wanting to make her baby girl some food personally. Meanwhile, Yvette had spread some drawing papers and crayons on the table, drawing away. The two got down to their work, and the atmosphere in the kitchen was pleasant and harmonious.
As the potatoes boiled in the pot, Lauren chopped up some vegetables and turned to Yvette. "Yvette, Mommy's going to cook now. It'll get dirty! Why don't you go out and play?"
Kicking her legs, Yvette shook her head, all serious. "No... I want to stay here. I want to be with Mommy! I'm not afraid of getting dirty..."
Lauren thought her daughter was absolutely sensible whenever they talked. All warm and fuzzy inside, Lauren smiled. "Okay! Then you have to sit still and not move around, okay?"
"Okay, I remember. The kitchen is dangerous. I cannot run around here. I can't disturb Mommy!"
As they spoke, Lauren got everything
ready. Her peripheral vision never left Yvette. Not sure if it was because vette grew up depending a lot on her or that she neglected her baby girl, she was both gratified yet distressed about the habit this little one had developed since time unknown.
She cooked up a few dishes in no time, egg salad, roasted sausage and zucchini, garlic prawns, and mashed potatoes. After reheating some dessert rolls, she brought all of them out and called out to Yvette.
"Baby, time to eat..."
"Okay."
The little one climbed down from the chair and walked over to the small basin aside to wash her hands. Turning around, Lauren went to tidy up the messy table for her only to see three squiggly snakes of different sizes on a big piece of white paper.
What do you think?
