Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Howard sat on the edge of his bed, his coat hanging loosely on his frame, revealing a hint of his chiseled abs, “With master Gwen by my side, it won’t make a difference.
Gwendolyn spoke in a hushed tone, “Don’t call me that, I’m just an average medical student, and I haven’t even graduated yet,”
Leaning in closer, Howard lowered his voice, “Sweetheart, do you have no clue?”
She was worthy of being called master.
When did that Mr. White start backing Gwendolyn up and singing her praises?
“Huh?” Gwendolyn looked at him, puzzled,
“Never mind. Just go ahead and prepare that herbal bath you mentioned,” Howard didn’t burst her bubble, believing she was bound to make a name for herself in Bayridge City.
“Let me start with some acupuncture to get your energy flowing properly. Whoever worked on you last got a few spots wrong,” Gwendolyn said, pulling out a worn, gray medicine kit from under the bed. The needle pack, washed to a pale white, held a set of silver needles. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
Clearly cherished, Howard thought it a pity.
Waldo ain’t worth squat!
She deserved to wield gold needles!
She bent over, twirling the needle expertly between her fingers before gently inserting it into his skin. Soft wool was wrapped around the needle head, burning with a soothing fragrance.
Howard watched her intently. Gwendolyn was beautiful, with an oval face, almond eyes, and lips that turned up slightly, lending her an air of purity.
“Where’s your phone?” he asked.
“In my pocket,” she said casually, handing it to him without a second thought as she continued with the acupuncture.
Howard swiped through her phone, opening the contacts to find himself labeled “Mr.
Chadwick.” Not surprised, he changed it, inadvertently catching sight of a few messages that darkened his expression.
Gwendolyn glanced over, her ears turning red, the blush spreading down her delicate neck.
Utterly embarrassed!
He’d changed it to “Hubby“?
He nonchalantly placed the phone aside, declaring, “Your label was too formal, which could raise suspicions.”

“What did you label me as?” Gwendolyn pouted.
“Ouch, my leg’s a bit sore.”
With that, she was distracted, checking his legs again. She was so easy to fool.
“Where’s the reunion happening? Need a ride?” Howard asked casually, having seen some overly affectionate messages on her phone.
“Palate Paradise. I can just take a cab.”
As expected, she declined. Was she afraid of being seen?
Howard’s fingers grazed the bed frame as he watched her pack up and leave the room. He then whipped out his tablet and hooked it up to the security cams. On the screen, Waldo appeared.
Before even leaving the mansion, Waldo was eagerly calling Bainbridge to report.
“Mr. Bainbridge, Howard suspects nothing and even thanked me. The herbs I provided are all tampered with. After a month of use, he’ll drop dead.”
Waldo groveled like a lapdog, “Mr. Bainbridge, no one will compete with you for power again. Once it’s done, send me abroad, and I won’t breathe a word. Nobody will suspect a thing. That Gwendolyn is clueless and can’t even identify all the herbs.”
Waldo’s voice rang clear in Howard’s ears. He scoffed, “Fool.”
If a car accident couldn’t kill him, they thought poison would.
So be it. He’d give them a show, play the part of a dying man, and watch them get carried away
in their victory.
