A Taste of Spring

Chapter 46

Chapter 46

Coming to his house probably wasn't the best idea. Summer realized that as she moved through the beautiful residence. When the taxi service pulled up in front of a house on the outskirts of the city versus an apartment, she almost instructed him to turn around and take her back home. But running away wasn't going to solve her sister's, broken heart.

But...she felt all sorts of uncomfortable inside Fallon's home. She knew he wasn't married but he could live with his woman, and her showing up could be viewed as something it wasn't. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

She found Fallon sitting on the edge of his sofa, no doubt ready to force her to leave. When he noticed her, he stood? She spoke before he could. "I'm sorry for barging in here but," she forced her shoulders back and stared him directly in the eyes, "you have to fix it. Springy is heartbroken over Dez and I don't like it."

"Is she heartbroken over Dez or that her payday will never come?"

Summer growled as she moved forward. She had every intention of slapping the stupid off his smug dumb face but stopped inches away. Her hitting him might satisfy her, but it wouldn't fix Spring and Dez.

She sat down on the sofa and sighed. "Springy isn't like me. She's good and sweet. She believes in love and romance. Dez wasn't her payday. He was her happily ever after." Summer looked up at Fallon.

"And I'm supposed to believe that. You sell yourselves to whoever can afford you and I'm supposed to believe that Dez has changed her."

Summer hung her head. "Not Springy. I said she's not like me." She rubbed her hands together. Lying never meant a thing but admitting lies always made her nervous. "I got sick with the flu. I was the one

you hired, not Springy. Going out with Dez was her helping me out. It's just that when we met, you were so damn rude and judgmental that I let you believe that she was an escort...when she really isn't."

"Look Brittney, Summer, whoever you are, you can't expect me to believe this shi-"

Summer cut him off. "It's true. Springy works at a shoe store while getting her modeling career going. She doesn't work for Shush Escorts. Think-it was my picture you chose, not hers. She's not even on the site."

The cushion of the sofa sank, signaling to her that he sat down beside her. Summer tilted her head to see him. He looked perplexed as he stared back at her.

"Then why the hell would you let me believe she was an escort?"

Summer didn't miss the disgust in his tone when he said escort. "Because of that. Listen to you. You can't even say the word escort without dripping judgment. What I do doesn't make me a whore or a bad person, but in your mind, I am both and a whole lot more. You don't even know me. Didn't your mother raise you to not judge others until you know them?"

A look she would describe as hurt crossed over Fallon's face but he quickly hid it. Just like he quickly hid the guilty expression Summer saw earlier.

"She did actually." He sat back, his hands on his legs. "I'm sorry for judging you, both."

"That doesn't matter. What matters is that Springy was happy. Dez made her happy."

"She really likes him, huh?" Fallon asked.

Summer shook her head. "I'd say she loves him."

They both shivered and blew out a sigh. Then they both laughed.

"Well," Fallon chuckled as he got to his feet, "then I'll have to fix it. Let's go then."

Summer smiled. She didn't think this would work but it did. As she followed Fallon to the door, she picked up the keys she threw at his head earlier. Good thing she was shit at throwing. "Sorry about trying to hit you." She rubbed the back of her neck as she avoided looking at him.

"No problem. Women like throwing things at me. Mostly themselves first, then their keys."

"I bet. You driving?" She walked through the open door he held. "What's the plan? How do we fix this?"

Fallon seemed to think it over as he led her to a black sports car. It's so like him to have an expensive sports car. He pointed to the passenger side and Summer rolled her eyes. Mr. Judgey was definitely not a gentleman. She shook her head as she opened the door and slipped into the car.

It was just as beautiful inside as it was outside with all its shiny buttons and lights. She clicked her seatbelt and tried to relax.

"I'm fixing this, right after I drop you off." He turned the engine over and pulled out of his parking pad.

Aside from her giving directions, they didn't talk while Fallon drove. Summer was content to just listen to the radio. When he pulled his car in front of her building, she wondered if him dropping her off was the best thing. Maybe she should go with him...to fix this thing with Spring and Dez.

"Candy?" Fallon asked as he pushed in a little compartment on his dashboard that opened with a low swoosh.

Inside were clear wrapped blue candies, just like the ones...
