Chapter 29 Help
It was Norman—Emilia had actually lured her into meeting Norman here. “You’ve gone too far, Emilia!”
Diane was enraged by this, and she shook off Emilia’s hand after reaching the end of her patience.
Meanwhile, Emilia furrowed her brows with a look of displeasure. “What’s wrong? I know a little about
what happened between you and Norman. Isn’t this Stella’s fault, that homewrecker? It’s completely
normal, though! Isn’t it normal for a talented young man with handsome looks and a decent paying job
like Norman to have a few women eyeing him? Mom said it’s not easy to preserve a marriage, Diane,
so you shouldn’t keep talking about getting a divorce. You two may have a talk with each other, and I
shan’t bother you guys any longer. By the way, Norman…” she said while turning to look at Norman
with a grin. “Thanks for the bag.” She lifted the dark green sheepskin satchel on her back and patted it.
Diane fumed with rage when she saw the satchel. “Did you lure me here just for a bag? Aren’t you my
younger sister, Emilia?”
“I am. I’m just doing this for your own good. After all, Norman told me that he’s realized his mistakes.
Ain’t I right, Norman?”
Upon hearing Emilia’s words, Norman—who had risen to his feet—nodded repeatedly with a placating
smile. “Yeah, you’re right. I know that what happened before is all my fault, Diane. I have let you down,
so I’m here today to apologize to you.”
As he walked up to Diane, Emilia said delightedly with a clap of her hands, “All right, I can be
considered to have saved a broken marriage. You two may talk since I’m leaving. By the way Diane—
don’t forget about getting me a job.” Having reminded her sister as if she was rightful to do so, she
turned around and actually left. Before she went off, she even closed the door of the private room.
Norman was wearing a broad smile, but Diane didn’t even bother to look at him right now. She also
turned around without a word, but before she could take a step, he suddenly jumped in front of her,
stretched out his hands, and stopped her. “Now that you’re here, are you going to leave without saying
a word to me, Diane?”
“What else can we talk about?” Diane looked up and glared at him.
The smile on Norman’s face had faded; it was replaced by an expression that Diane found hard to
describe. His smile had a trace of irony and resignation to it, and it seemed like the shameless
expression that local bullies and loafers wore while pestering ladies on the streets. “Diane, it’s only
been a few days since we got a divorce. Wouldn’t it be improper for you to be so cruel just days after
getting out of my bed?”
“Get out of my way, Norman.” Diane furiously stretched out her hands and shoved Norman away, but
he took this opportunity to grab her wrist. With a sharp pull, he swept her into his arms.
The sudden hug made Diane panic, and it gave her goosebumps all over her body. “What are you
trying to do?” Panic showed in her eyes spontaneously. Meanwhile, Norman smiled as he lowered his
head and stared at the face that he once disliked but was now interested in. “Don’t worry, I won’t do
anything to you today. I just want to bargain with you.”
Diane was very irritated; she struggled fiercely a few times but didn’t manage to break free of Norman’s
hold. “Shoot.” Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Norman asked, “Now that you’re Christopher’s wife, I won’t pester you for this. However, isn’t it too
much of you to treat me like this right now? I got promoted to director at NG Enterprise with my own
capabilities, yet I’ve been removed from my position because of a word from you. A day together as
husband and wife means endless devotion for the rest of your life, Diane. Is this how you’re treating
me?” A fierce glint flickered in his eyes as he spoke, his arms tightening around Diane like a rope to
such an extent that she was almost suffocating.
Diane retorted, “You know in your heart that we got a divorce because you cheated on me with Stella in
the first place, so I’m not to blame, Norman. As for your position as a director, I can only say that I know
nothing about it. If you feel indignant about this, you should go to Mr. Waddington or Christopher. Only
these two people have the capability to put you back in that position, not me.”
“Hmph.” All of a sudden, Norman snorted coldly. As he held Diane in his arms with all his might, he said
between clenched teeth, “Just cut that sh*t out. I didn’t offend Christopher, so why would he pick on me
if it weren’t for you? You’re the one responsible for this, Diane!”
Since he clung to his views, Diane understood that it was no use for her to argue with him, so she
decided not to do so. Instead, she asked, “In that case, what do you want? Do you want me to beg Mr.
Waddington to let you have your job back?”
“You don’t have to go through such trouble,” Norman flatly refused while staring at Diane’s face with a
smile. “The Wayne Family is fabulously rich, and Christopher himself has a personal wealth of
hundreds of billions. Aren’t you Mrs. Wayne already? Getting tens of millions shouldn’t be a problem for
you, right? I don’t want much, Diane. Give me the money, and I’ll disappear from your sight at once and
never bother you anymore. Wouldn’t that be better?”
“Tens of millions?” Diane clenched her teeth in anger. “You and your mother really are a good match.”
What a pair of bloodsuckers, she thought to herself.
“Indeed, that’s quite a lot of money, but it depends on who you’re asking that money from. It’s an
astronomical figure to ordinary people, but it’s not a big deal to Christopher. Since he’s able to marry a
divorcee like you, he must care a lot about you—he’ll definitely pay the money.”
“Dream on!” yelled Diane as she couldn’t restrain her anger. “He’ll never give money to a person of vile
character like you. Just go straight to Christopher if you can, Norman—let’s see if he’ll give you the
money!”
“Hehe…” Norman let out an indifferent sneer. Then, he tightened his arms around Diane’s waist with so
much strength that he nearly broke it. “Asking you for the money would be more convenient than going
to him, don’t you think so? Since we’ve been together for such a long time, I believe that you still have
feelings for me, don’t you?” he asked in a flippant tone while lowering his head to kiss Diane.
Diane’s insides were churning as she pushed Norman’s chest with all her might. On second thought,
she opened her mouth and shouted, “Help! Somebody, please help me!”
Norman’s face clouded over at her words, and he raised his hand and clamped it over her mouth.
“What are you shouting for? Shut up!” It was apparent from his lowered voice that he was nonetheless
afraid.
Diane couldn’t make a sound as Norman covered her mouth, but her brain was working at full speed,
trying to find a way to free herself. Unexpectedly, Norman immediately dragged her all the way toward
the sofa in the room. Then, he hurled her onto the sofa and threw himself on top of her.
This posture… Diane panicked at once. “This is a cafe, Norman! Don’t do anything reckless!”
“Who cares? Can they butt in when I’m making out with my wife?”
“Stella is your wife!” Diane shouted while struggling. As he sat on top of Diane, Norman grabbed her
hands while looking at her malevolently. “You ran away last time, but you won’t be so lucky this time.
Listen carefully, Diane. I never thought of doing this to you, but since you and Christopher have pushed
me into such a situation, I can’t stand by and do nothing. Just give me 50 million and I’ll flee from
Fairview City—I’ll never show up in front of you two again so that you guys may live your days as
happily as you like. However, I’ll never let you off if you give me even a single cent less than that
amount.”
Norman fixed Diane with the look of a man-eating beast, making her feel as though she was bleeding
all over from being stabbed. As soon as he finished his sentence, he clutched her collar and fiercely
pulled it apart, ripping her blouse open with a tearing sound.
“You’re an *sshole, Norman! You… Help…” Diane sobbed loudly, but to her horror, Norman didn’t
violate her. Instead, he picked up a cell phone on the table and aimed its camera at her fair and alluring
body.
