A Naive Bride for the Sophisticated CEO

Chapter 58: Roger that!

Chapter 58: Roger that!

It was evening and James was still busy on his PC when he heard a knock on his door. He didn’t bother to look up before he asked the person in.

The door opened and unbelievably, Fred walked into the office. James raised his head and when he saw it was Fred, he knitted his eyebrows in disbelief.

“What the hell are you doing here?” He asked, and Fred let out a soft smile.

“Take it easy, James. I’m not here to fight you.”

“Then why are you here?”

“I came to check up on my friend, Amelia. I thought she would be busy at work, but it turns out I was wrong.”

James slammed the table with his hands angrily and stood to his feet.

“I can vividly remember she called you this morning and told you not to worry about her. Honestly, I don’t know what you are trying to prove.”

“Can you just calm down?” Fred asked, acting like he enjoyed how paranoid James was about him coming to pay a visit to Amelia.

“There’s no reason to calm down. Stay away from my wife, okay? We are good and she doesn’t need a comforter anymore. You may leave please.”

James looked away and sat behind his desk again. Fred chuckled and stared at James for some minutes.

“You have the guts thinking of coming here in the first place.” James muttered, keeping his furious eyes fixed on his Pc.

“Why are you so insecure about me being around her? Don’t you trust your wife?” Fred asked, and James clenched his jaws.

“I trust my wife. But you, I don’t trust you. You look so desperate and you could do anything sick! Get the hell out of my company and don’t you ever step your foot around here again!”

“Gosh, you are so hot tempered.”

“I don’t f**king joke with my wife! Next time you call her or stand close to her, it will be your end. Trust me.”

Fred exhaled loudly and smirked. He turned to leave and when he got to the door, he took a halt.

“I’m glad you know that I could do anything sick to get what I want.” He uttered and opened the door.

James looked up, and Fred slammed the door, making a loud noise.

“What the hell was that? Was he trying to threaten me?” James asked no one in particular.

The hatred he had for Fred multiplied, and he wished he had punched him in the face when he had the chance.

He got back on his PC, trying to pay more attention to it when his phone rang again.

“Wtf! Can’t I just have a few minutes to concentrate!” He yelled in rage.

He picked up his phone and when he saw it was Patricia calling, he swallowed hard and closed his eyes. He would hate himself if he spoke so rudely to her.

He answered the phone and placed it on his right ear.

“Hi, Patricia.” The loud background music filled his ear and began to wonder where she was.

“Wow. You still remember my name.” She mumbled.

James creased his brows when he heard her voice. She sounded drunk.

“Where are you, Patricia?” He began to worry.

“Why. do. you. want. to. know? You don’t care about me anymore. You don’t text me, you ignore my calls all the time.”

James clenched his fist and squished his forehead tiredly.

“Where are you, Patricia? I’m going to come to you.”

“Oh really? Don’t you have a wife to go home to? You don’t have to worry about me. I’m fine.”

He didn’t let her finish her statement before he sprang to his feet and began to clear his desk.

“Where are you?”

“At a club. Isn’t it obvious?”

“That won’t help! There are many clubhouses! Which of them?”

“I don’t know. I just walked in! Stop yelling!” She screamed drunkenly.

“Just don’t go anywhere. Wait for me wherever you are. I’m coming.”

“Hmmm… okay. I… Hey, let me go! Leave me alone!”

James heard her beginning to struggle with someone, and he got furious. He picked his car keys and ran out of the office.

“Who the hell is that?!” He asked and the call got disconnected immediately after.

“F**k! What have you put yourself into?!”

He went on his tracking app and inserted her phone number. It brought out a map, and he began to follow the map to where she was.

“He is on his way here.” Patricia said after she hung up the call.

“You did a good job. Just stick to the plan.” Fred responded, and she nodded.

“Trust me on this one. You should hide now before he shows up.”

“See you later.” Fred said and walked away.

Patricia went to the bartender and asked for another drink, preparing herself for James’ arrival.

She drank all of the whisky at once and dropped the cup. She kept her gaze on the door from where she sat.

Finally, the door opened and James ran into the clubhouse.

“Patricia!” He called out loud, without thinking of the attention he would pull to himself.

Patricia hurriedly stood up and began to stagger to where he stood. She had tears in her eyes and she looked so frightened.

“James.” She called soberly and threw her arms around him.

“Are you okay?” He asked worriedly, embracing her too.

“I’m not fine. Someone almost took advantage of me.” She mumbled and wanted to step back, she tripped and almost fell. She pulled James closer to her by his suit and made sure their lips touched.

James hurriedly pushed her away but made sure it wasn’t too hard so that she wouldn’t fall.

“You’re so drunk, Patricia. Let’s get out of here.” James said and held her as they walked out of the clubhouse.

Fred chuckled as he stared at his phone. He was so glad he captured everything.

“Good job, Patricia.” He muttered.

Amelia laid weakly on the bed, she tucked her whole body under the duvet, weeping.

Since she found out that Freddie had something to do with the death of her parents, she couldn’t stop herself from crying.

Freddie tried to explain what actually went wrong, but she was too heartbroken to let him say anything to her.

She asked Nicholas to send him out, and she locked the door and didn’t let him in again.

Since then, she had kept herself in bed, crying. She wanted James to come back home quickly so she could tell him what she found out.

After a few minutes, she heard the room door open. She knew it was James.

“James.” She mumbled and moved the duvet off her head.

“My love.” He responded and headed to the bed. He sat next to her, and that was when he saw she was teary.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked, pulling her into his embrace without hesitation.

“I found out who killed my parents.” She mumbled against his chest.

“Really? Who did it? They should be brought to justice.” James asserted firmly.

“It’s Mr. Hopper and Uncle Freddie.”

“What?!” Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Amelia moved away from him and looked into his face.

“I reacted the same way when Nicholas told me. He took care of me because he was guilty of killing them, James. Why would he kill his brother?” Amelia uttered in terror.

“Oh My…” James pulled her in again and began to comfort her.

“Have you told Uncle Freddie about this?”

“He was here when Nicholas told me. He tried to explain why he did it, but I was so mad and hurt that I chased him out.”

“It’s understandable. I’m as shocked as you are, Amelia. I’m sorry all of this has to happen to you. You don’t deserve such a cruel world.”

Amelia bounced her head against his chest and tightened her grip on him.

James let her cry on him and he kept patting her until she became calm.

She sniffed and moved away from him again. “You should shower. You sink.” She mumbled, and James broke into laughter.

“Really?! I sink?!” He asked, sniffing his armpit.

“Yes, you do. Get into the bathroom.” She teased, though she still had tears in her eyes.

James nodded and stood up from the bed. He turned to look at her and saw her smile had faded off again.

“It hurts me to see you hurting.” He uttered sadly. Amelia shook her head and let out a feeble smile.

“I’m fine. I’m done crying.”

James bounced his head and began to remove his clothes. He had planned to tell her what happened at the clubhouse with Patricia, but after seeing how sad she wass…

‘How can I tell her I mistakenly kissed Patricia when she is this heartbroken?’

He was left in his boxers and he headed into the bathroom. Amelia went ahead to pack his clothes and drop them in the basket.

She was too weak to do the laundry. She just wanted to cuddle her husband until she fell asleep.

After long hours of ghosting social media, she finally picked up her phone. She saw lots of notifications, but only one caught her attention. Fred’s.

It was a picture message.

She clicked the message and it opened. The picture began to load and when it was done, her mouth dropped open in shock. It was a picture of James kissing Patricia at a club.

She clenched her jaws and texted him back.

“Why did you send this to me?”

“I want you to know the kind of man you are married to.” Fred texted back immediately.

“I trust James, and I know there’s an explanation for this. Stop trying to tear us apart, okay? I love him and he loves me too.” Amelia became frustrated.

“Are you serious right now?? Are you so blind not to see?” He attached this text with another picture.

She clicked on the picture and swallowed hard after seeing it. It was a picture of Patricia and James’ upper body naked. They were on the bed and were kissing.

She closed her eyes for a few seconds and texted him again.

“I’ve seen this picture before. Patricia sent him this message months back. She thought she could use this to capture him, but he turned her down, and broke all ways she could contact him. I won’t be surprised if this was planned. Why were you even at the club in the first place? And why do you have this picture?”

After she sent the message, she waited for his reply, but he didn’t reply to her. He stopped texting her.

James walked out of the bathroom, wiping his damp hair. Amelia turned to look at him and smiled.

“Are you okay?” He asked, and she nodded.

“Make haste. I want to cuddle you.” She responded, and he chuckled.

“Roger that!”
