PREGNANT BUT REJECTED AS A BILLIONAIRE WIFE

PHB 61

Just like A-list celebrities who can’t escape the spotlight of the paparazzi and all sorts of news, the entire Quantum Tech staff seemed excited discussing the relationship between Lucas and Deasy.

It all began when many pairs of eyes caught an incident where Lucas intentionally chased Deasy along the building corridor to the lobby. Eventually, he succeeded in intercepting her and pulled Deasy towards her car.

This action raised many questions and perceptions. Almost every division considered this unusual moment as hot gossip that would be a great loss if not made the topic of conversation.

“You must be thrilled to be a trending topic in the office.”

Daniel addressed Deasy as they both entered the elevator. From his expression, the man who resembled Mr Bean appeared visibly annoyed. Perhaps he was tired of hearing the same gossip about his ex-girlfriend all day.

“Well, yeah,” Deasy replied, tossing her hair deliberately. “I mean, I’ve become an instant celebrity.”

“But aren’t you uncomfortable with everyone finally knowing who your boyfriend is? They’re all buzzing about the two of you.”

Up until this moment, Daniel believed that Deasy had been dating Lucas Morales from the beginning. The man had no objections when Deasy initially stated her reasons for keeping their relationship secret from the staff to maintain a peaceful work environment and avoid office gossip.

Back then, Deasy used to boast about it. Turns out, it had come true now. Maybe Deasy’s words were like a prayer. She spoke without much thought, and in the end, God answered. It’s not a big deal. Was this what they called unexpected blessings?

“Why should I be uncomfortable?” Deasy seemed nonchalant. She didn’t feel like making a fuss or getting emotional about it. “I should be proud to have the company’s CEO as my boyfriend.”

“But you said before that you wanted to keep it a secret so that the jealous women in the office wouldn’t get envious. So why the change of heart now?”

“That was then. It’s different now. Let everyone know. So there won’t be anyone else trying to flirt and fantasize about being with Mr. Lucas Morales. I mean, a handsome guy like him is surely an idol for all the female staff here, right? Even some of the male staff seem to be interested. Creepy!”

Daniel sighed. He couldn’t stand it when Deasy acted so confidently. After all, their behavior was quite similar, and there was no difference between them. Both were equally narcissistic and liked to brag about themselves.

“You just enjoy being the subject of office gossip, don’t you?”

“Haven’t I always been the subject of office gossip?” Deasy smirked, glancing briefly while speaking in a mocking tone. “Especially when I was dating you, right?”

This time, Daniel turned and smiled. The man often said to resemble a rice cooker’s switch seemed to be grinning proudly, even though Deasy hadn’t praised him at all. What a strange guy!

“Well, that’s definitely worth discussing. After all, we were the most harmonious couple back then. It’s natural for many staff members to envy us and gossip about us.”

Deasy choked. Suddenly, her ears felt itchy. Didn’t Daniel have any self-awareness or something? Could it be that he didn’t realize why people used to gossip about them both.

“Harmonious couple, you say?” Deasy laughed. “People gossiped about us because they thought I had an eye infection and was under a spell. Besides, it’s just weird for a girl as perfectly beautiful as me to date someone like you.”

“Don’t say that, Des. Arindi is beautiful too. She willingly married me, you know. What does that mean? It means I’m handsome, charismatic, and authoritative. That’s why I’m in demand among women out there.”

“You’re like physics, aren’t you? All about style, Daniel!”

“Why all about style? I’m speaking the truth, Des. You even got stressed out when I broke up with you, right?”

Deasy couldn’t help but burst into laughter. She was in quite a mood listening to her ex’s rambling.

“Yeah, yeah, okay, fine. You’re handsome, charismatic, authoritative, and rich,” Deasy replied mockingly. She felt like throwing up while saying that. “But at least be a faithful man, Daniel. Just so you know, even Rexona is faithful all the time. What about you? A cheater. Shame on you, compared to deodorant.”

Daniel grumbled in annoyance. He couldn’t believe Deasy compared him to deodorant. He was ready to retort and protest, but Deasy waved her hand and went into her office.

Inside her office, Deasy noticed several staff members gathering. She didn’t need to guess; she knew they were all currently gossiping about her.

“What are you all huddled up there for?” Deasy asked intentionally.

“Uh, well, Ma’am…”

“Yes? What’s up with your Uh… things, Andro? Flying away?”

“Not like that.”

“The kids are excitedly talking about Ms. Deasy and Mr. Lucas,” Della chimed in and immediately received sharp glares from the other finance team members.

Deasy just smiled. Getting angry would be pointless and a waste of energy. Since everyone had already guessed and speculated all sorts of things, she might as well show off, so they’d know everything.

“What’s going on with me and Mr. Lucas?” Deasy inquired.

“We just didn’t expect it, Ms. Deasy, that you have a special relationship with Mr. Lucas. We thought he was already engaged,” one of the staff members said.

“I’m actually in a relationship with him,” Deasy asserted deliberately.

“Seriously, Ms. Deasy?”

They all responded in unison, surprised by Deasy’s statement.

“Yeah, why would I lie? If you don’t believe me, just ask Mr. Lucas about our relationship.”

“So, what about Mr. Lucas’s fiancée?” Andro, who was curious, asked right away. He thought maybe Deasy’s answer could be used as the next topic of gossip.

“It’s just that rich people tend to be arranged in relationships. So, they were engaged, but they didn’t really love each other. Besides, Mr. Lucas chose me.”

“Oh, I see. Lucky you, Ms. Deasy,” Andro replied, nodding like a bird.

“Well, if I were Ms. Deasy, I’d definitely try to maintain a relationship with Mr. Lucas. After all, he’s top-notch material!” Starla exclaimed excitedly. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

“That explains why Ms. Deasy seems to have gained some weight, right? I thought she was still stressed from Mr. Daniel leaving her. Turns out she’s just really happy because she’s with someone like Mr. Lucas.”

Deasy choked when Della voiced her thoughts. She had thought that no one had noticed the recent change in her body shape. It turns out Della had realized that she had gained weight. Well, it was understandable; she was currently four months pregnant.

The staff members were already buzzing with excitement when they found out about her relationship with Lucas. What would happen if they knew she was carrying his child?

“You guys are something else. But, I guess what you’re saying is partly true. I’m so happy that I don’t even think about dieting anymore. I’m just really happy to have a partner who’s more attentive and everything.”

“More good looking and better off financially too, for sure, Ms. Deasy,” Starla chimed in, eliciting laughter from the other staff members.

“Alright, you guys carry on. I’m going to get ready to go home.”

After grabbing her bag, Deasy left the room and headed to Lucas’s office. She knew that he had just returned from a meeting outside the office and decided to pay him a visit. There was something important she needed to discuss with him.

“Have you heard the gossip today?” Deasy asked as she entered the room and walked over to where Lucas was seated.

“Gossip because I chased you and invited you into the car yesterday?” Lucas smiled, taking Deasy’s wrist and pulling her to sit on his lap.

“Let everyone know. It’s about time others found out. After all, we do have a special relationship, don’t we? Even more than just dating or being close friends.”

Deasy nodded, gazing at Lucas while gently caressing his cheek.

“Yes, a bedmate who will soon become a life partner.”

Lucas smiled again, reaching for the nape of Deasy’s neck to plant a deep kiss on her lips. He nibbled on both of her lips alternately before finally releasing her after feeling satisfied.

“Soon, my love. I’ll marry you as soon as possible.”

Deasy nodded in belief. Besides, Lucas seemed genuinely committed from his expression.

“Oh, I almost forgot,” Deasy suddenly said after they finished kissing. “You’re not busy anymore, are you?” she asked to confirm.

“No,” Lucas shook his head. “I just got back from a meeting. There’s nothing else to do, really. Maybe just reading documents or checking emails. Why do you ask?”

“I want to take you somewhere right now.”

“Right now?” Lucas repeated, looking surprised. “Where do you want to go?”

Deasy didn’t answer immediately. She got up from Lucas’s lap and then pulled his wrist to make him stand up.

“Come on, let’s go now.”

“Sure, but where are we going, dear?”

“To my parents’ house. So you can meet my mom.”
