His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 228

A Month Later...

Nova hadn't seen Casper in what felt like forever, and it was driving her up the wall. She'd tried calling him countless times.

Either his phone was off, or no one would answer, and lately... it went straight to a disconnected number.

How could the CEO of Welton International have a disconnected number? He must have blocked her.

But why? Eliza was gone. Shouldn't he be more focused on her now? What was going on?

Nova couldn't make sense of it.

Then, a team of movers barged in.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

She frowned at the intruders. "Who are you? How can you just waltz into my house?"

"The house has been sold. The owner asked us to help you move your stuff," one of the movers said, glancing at his clipboard and then back at Nova. "You're the tenant, Nova, right?" Tenant? Since when?

"I own this place. Who told you to come?" Nova's face turned pale, raising her cane towards the movers. "You can't just enter someone's house like this. I could call the police." The mover checked his clipboard again, "Ms. Nova, the deed is in Mr. Casper's name, not yours. Would you like to pack up yourself, or shall we help you?" Was Casper trying to kick her out? Why?

No, he wasn't kicking her out. He must've been planning to marry and move her into the Welton Estate. That had to be it.

An excited smile spread across Nova's face. She lifted her chin, directing the movers. "Go ahead and pack. My belongings are very valuable, so be careful." "We have specialized packing materials, don't worry."

"Alright, proceed."

The movers efficiently packed Nova's belongings and moved them out. Then, following the owner's instructions, they locked the door.

"Ms. Nova, if you have a new place, we can move your stuff there," one of them offered.

Thinking she'd soon move to the Welton Estate, Nova waved her hand dismissively. "It's okay. Someone will come for me soon."

"I see," the mover handed her a bill. "Then, could you please settle the payment? It's $2,346 in total. Cash or card?"

"What?" Nova bristled, her face souring, "Why... is there a fee?"

The mover looked at her, slightly amused. "We're not a charity."

Huffily, Nova pulled out her phone and made the payment. "I'll soon be Mrs. Welton, so I won't quibble over $2,000. Consider it a coffee treat for you guys."

The movers exchanged confused looks, said no more, and left after receiving the payment.

Nova still couldn't reach Casper, so she called Faithe.

"The number you have dialed is switched off..."

Why was Faithe's phone also off?

As she said this, Nova stepped towards the car.

Dillon extended his arm, stopping her, his voice colder than ever. "Nova, you're mistaken. I'm not here to take you anywhere today."
