His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 206

The grand gates of Mercy Hospital creaked open slowly.

A sleek Rolls-Royce glided in, and the gates shut behind it with a heavy thud.

Eliza was just like before, sitting there hugging her knees, lost in thought.

Casper walked in, and she didn't even flinch.

He turned to the staff who had followed him in. "How's she doing?"

"She's fine. Her meals are prepared separately as you ordered, Mr. Welton. But her appetite's not great; she barely eats."

Casper's eyes lingered on Eliza's slender frame for a moment before he waved the staff away.

"Why aren't you eating? Is the food not to your taste?" He approached her, looking down from his towering height.

Eliza stayed silent.

She didn't want to talk to him. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

She just stared blankly out the window at the sparrows perched on the bare branches.

She watched them fly away and come back again. It was as if they couldn't escape.

"Did Zach come to see you? What did you two talk about?" he asked, intrigued.

Eliza blinked away the sting in her eyes, finally lifting her gaze to him. "He said he wants to take me away."

Casper let out a mocking laugh

as if scoffing at Zach's audacity.

"Then why didn't you go with him?" His dark eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of danger in them. "Do you not want to elope?"

"I'm not interested." Her cool gaze pierced his. "I'm not like you, Mr. Casper, who enjoys having affairs within a marriage. I bet the whole of Falconridge is laughing their heads off now."

"Are you jealous? Or just bitter?" He smirked, his long, strong fingers lifting her chin. "Aren't you always so composed and magnanimous? Why so petty now?"

Eliza pulled her chin away, disdain flickering in her eyes. "Jealous? Bitter? Mr. Casper, you give yourself too much credit."

"Eliza, stop being stubborn. If you admit you're wrong, I can take you home right now," he leaned down, his lips almost brushing hers. "Just be good."

"Isn't me being good or not all depend on your whims, Mr. Casper?"

She looked at him, her gaze icy yet carrying an elusive emotion that made him uneasy.

His eyes darkened. "Eliza, you'll never learn to get along with me."

"And if I did? Would you stop fooling around? Would you become a normal husband, Mr. Casper?"

Eliza threw him a disdainful smile.

It cut deep.

His face grew darker like ink spreading in water. "You're the abnormal one."

"The most abnormal thing about me was marrying you." She looked at him somberly, her lips curling into a bitter smile. "Casper, if I die one day, would you be relieved? You'd probably wake up laughing from your dreams."

"I heard you're getting engaged to Nova. The engagement venue is beautiful. saw it and liked it a lot."

She laughed bitterly, her eyelashet

trembling. "Casper, you're not

incapable of love; you just can't love me Look how you've put Nova on a pedestal."

"I often think, if I hadn't been so shameless in insisting on marrying you, maybe we'd both be happy in our own worlds. My parents might still be alive, and Robin wouldn't have gone mad. Don't you think so?"

"It all started with me-the pain, the

torment, the cause and effect. I'll

bear it all. I've regretted it, but it doesn't matter anymore. Everything started with me, and it should end with me." She smiled as she looked into his eyes, a teardrop glistening brightly.
