His Cure

Should I?

Gregory stood up from the chair and shuts his laptop.

He had just rounded up all his works for the day.

He massaged his neck and went down to the kitchen for a drink.

“Good evening, sir.”the workers in there went out when they saw him enter.

He took a bottled water from the fridge and gulped it down.

Melinda enters and sighed.

“Such a long day it is. And, to think you’re just coming down since all these while.”she breathed out a smile.

He spun around and chuckled.

“Well, I guess I will need a coffee now.”

“Indeed.”she grinned and moved to the coffee maker.

He watched her keenly as she did the process and finally as the coffee drips inside the carafe.

She added cream and sugar to it then proferred the glass pot to him.

He inhaled the scent and blew some air on it before taking a sip.

“As usual. You always make the best coffee in the whole world.”he complimented.

“Thank you. But all these while when i was not around you, I guess she has been the one making it for you.”Melinda smiled.

Gregory’s eyes twinkled and he chuckled.

“No. I make my own coffee.”

“Gre..”

“Melinda, I can’t bare to have any other person aside you make my coffee. You’re the only one that knows my taste.”

“But, you should give her a trial. Who knows, she could become a master in it. Besides, it took me a long while before I finally understood how you want your coffee too.”

“I’m out.”he pecked her right cheek and she smiled.

“Don’t you dare bribe me with that.”she frowned and went after him.

“I already did.”he chuckled as he walks out of the kitchen’s door.

“Well.. do not be in such a hurry. Your wife is not home so shouldn’t you spend time with this grandma?”Melinda joked.

He retracted in his steps and tilts his head to the side before turning to look at her.

“She is not home?”

“Uhm, well, yes.”Melinda batted her lashes.

“Didn’t she tell you anything?”

“She didn’t. Where did she told you she was going?”

“She said she was going out with a friend.”

He scoffs before nodding reluctantly.

Could she have ran off?

Well, his mistake for not telling the guards not to let her out without his consent.

He just instructed them to make sure she tells them wherever she is going and thinking about it now.. he realized how dumb he was.

She could have easily lied!

He clenched his fist.

“What?.”

“Nothing.”he smiled at her.

“Good night.”

“Serve you right though. You were buried in your laptop all day and you probably didn’t check up on her. That’s revenge.”she said behind him but Gregory just scoffed.

“I am a man of my words.”Zack said.

Beatrice sneers at him and flicked her hair back.

The waiter came to drop their food before them and they started digging.

“I didn’t actually think you would agree to come on a date with me.”Zack started.

She cut the steak with her fork and dropped it in her mouth.

“Why?”

“You would be getting married to..”he stopped talking when he saw the sudden sullen look on her face.

Beatrice sighed and stared back at her food.

“Well, I shouldn’t but here I am.”she smiled.

Zack gave a nod, deciding not to push conversations on that any further.

“I didn’t get to ask. What exactly happened between you and Olivia that night?”

Beatrice paused and chuckled.

“Now, thinking about this made me realize how clumsy I was. I accidentally poured my drink on her bag and she wants me to pay. But, how come you didn’t know about this?. You could have asked other peo..”

“I don’t like poking my nose in people’s business.”he responded.

“Seems I helped you to break that rule.”she carried her glass of wine and drew few drops out of the drink in her mouth.

“Yeah.”he nodded.

“Why..”he paused again.

“Why what?”she looks up at him.

“Nothing.”he gulped his food down.

“Don’t give me that. You shouldn’t have began the sentence when you know you’re not going to complete it. Now, you’ve left me in suspense.”she pouted.

Zack took his lips in.

“I just don’t want to offend you with my question.”

“Oh, you’re too modest, Zack.”she laughs.

“Shall I ask it then?”

“Well, sure, yeah, go on.”she nods.

“Given your status, you.. know, Gregory’s girlfriend, paying the money shouldn’t have been so.. well, hard. And, also, why did he stood there, watching, without doing anything to help you?”

She drops her fork and took the napkin.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

She wiped her mouth with it and smiled.

“Maybe because he knew I could actually pay for that.”she gave an answer to his two questions.

Zack doesn’t seem satisfied with her answer.

“Then, why did you chose to let her disgrace you like that?”that baffles him.

If she indeed has that money, why didn’t she pay right away?, and allow Olivia dragged her down Infront of the other guests.

Beatrice pursed her lips together and pinched her waist.

“Do you want me to open my bank account for you to see?”she tugged at the zip of her bag.

She was way too confident for a lady that only has about $500+, which would be nothing close to being loaded in his eyes in her account,

Zack smiled.

“Nope. I understand. I wasn’t trying to get you angry.”

Beatrice gave a silent sigh of relief before removing her hand from her bag.

“Where is my hair band though?. Since you said that wasn’t the real deal, shouldn’t you return the gift too?”

“I… would like to keep it.”he sent his gaze to his food.

She chuckled.

“You really like it, huh?”she smiled.

He looked up at her.

He liked it but he likes its owner more.

She snapped her fingers in his face.

“What are you thinking?”

“Ah, nothing.”he smiles gently.

She nodded and picked up her fork again.

“Their food is really nice here.”she confessed.

“Yeah. Would you like to come here and taste this some other time?”he stared out at her in anticipation.

She pressed her lips together.

“Should I?”she munched on the meat.

“That sounds perfect. I would like that.”

And, excitement illuminated his eyes.
