Giving Birth to The Italian Billionaire’s Baby

Part 66

Two days passed just like that. Adaline knew that by now Altezza should have returned to Manhattan. But even over the past two days, the man hadn’t tried to contact her at all. And Adaline hadn’t tried to contact him either because she was afraid of bothering him.

That morning was terrible for Adaline. Her morning sickness still hadn’t subsided. This time it seemed even worse. Especially because for the past two days, she hadn’t been eating properly or getting enough rest.

Her body felt weak, her face pale. Every food she ate came back up. Only sweet tea settled well in her stomach.

Tessa was so worried every time she went back and forth to the toilet. Sometimes the girl even waited for her, afraid that Adaline might faint from exhaustion.

“Ada, are you okay?” Tessa looked at her with concern.

Adaline tried to wipe the cold sweat off her forehead. Her body felt weak, her head so light, and her eyes seemed to sparkle. Her face looked very pale. Even her lips were chapped.

“Let’s go to the doctor, okay?” Tessa urged.

Adaline looked at her friend and nodded slowly. Tessa helped her tidy up her bag. Then she helped Adaline stand up and assisted her to the elevator.

Adaline’s petite body seemed unsteady. Just as the elevator door opened on their floor, Duncan and Gian were already inside. They glanced at Tessa and Adaline alternately.

“Ada, are you okay?” Duncan’s question came out of nowhere.

Adaline, whose gaze was already unfocused, could only nod weakly. Tessa helped her into the elevator.

“Please take us to the doctor,” Tessa asked Duncan softly, which the man agreed to. Finally, they pressed the basement button.

Adaline whimpered softly. Her hand gripped Tessa’s shirt sleeve tightly until her knuckles turned white.

“Tessa…” She whispered faintly. A moment later, she slumped into Tessa’s arms.

“Ada… Adaline…” The three people in the elevator called her name alternately. But the owner of the name didn’t respond at all.

Gian carried Adaline. Duncan led the way and opened the back door of his car for Gian. Gian supported Adaline’s shoulders in the back seat. Meanwhile, Tessa placed a smelling salt under Adaline’s nose, hoping she would regain consciousness. Meanwhile, Duncan sat behind the wheel, driving their car towards the nearest clinic or hospital as quickly as possible.

Ten minutes later, they arrived at a large hospital. Gian still faithfully held Adaline and took her to the emergency room. A doctor greeted them and asked for details about Adaline.

“Is the patient pregnant?” the doctor asked when Tessa explained the situation.

Tessa nodded in confirmation. A female nurse arrived, pushing a trolley with medical equipment. She began to set up an IV drip on Adaline’s hand as per the doctor’s instructions.

“A patient with early pregnancy is indeed vulnerable. In such condition, she should not be tired, let alone stressed. Has she been experiencing severe morning sickness?” the doctor inquired again.

“Yes, Doctor. In fact, for the past few days, she has had difficulty eating,” Tessa replied. Because indeed, for the past two days, Adaline seemed to have lost her appetite.

“After she regains consciousness, I recommend she consults an obstetrician. An obstetrician knows more about vitamins and what pregnant women should do. For now, I’ll give her a vitamin infusion as a replacement for body fluids,” the doctor continued before excusing himself to attend to another patient.

Tessa looked at Gian and Duncan alternately. “Thank you,” she said gratefully. “I don’t know what would’ve happened without you guys.” Tessa slumped exhausted in a chair next to Adaline’s bed.

Just a moment ago, when she saw Adaline faint, she felt truly panicked, confused, and worried.

“You don’t need to thank us. After all, she’s my sister-in-law. It’s only right that I help,” replied Gian.

“But is her condition really that severe?” Gian asked, his eyes looking at Adaline who was still asleep. Her face appeared even thinner than before and very pale.

“Since she found out she’s pregnant, her condition can be described as quite miserable. Not in the sense that she’s sickly. It’s just that her morning sickness is quite severe.

“Even not just morning sickness, but every time she finishes eating, she always ends up vomiting her food. Whether it’s breakfast or lunch, and when I asked about her dinner, she said she always vomited her dinner too.”

“Does Altezza know about this?” Gian asked again. Tessa shook her head.

“I also asked Adaline about it, but Adaline answered that Altezza doesn’t know. And she feels Altezza doesn’t need to know. She doesn’t want to worry Altezza,” Tessa replied again.

Gian was quite surprised to hear that. But he tried to understand. He has come to know Adaline’s character lately, and he knows that Adaline is not the type to be spoiled, and she is someone who doesn’t want to inconvenience others.

“Do you guys have other business? If so, you can go. Let me take care of Adaline here,” Tessa said to the two men who were still faithfully waiting for Adaline.

“Actually, we have a meeting, but I’ve called the client and postponed it for a while,” Duncan replied calmly. “Is it okay if we stay?” Tessa nodded assuredly. “If there’s anything, you call me,” she softly instructed, which was again nodded by Tessa.

Altezza put down his drawing tools and stretched. His back felt stiff. He glanced at his watch and realized that lunchtime was approaching. He missed Adaline’s cooking. But it wouldn’t be possible for him to ask his wife to cook lunch for him.

Adaline. The name of his wife made him feel guilty. Two days ago, after meeting with his client, he accidentally ran into Jovanka. The woman intercepted him and asked for his time to talk. Although he didn’t want to, he eventually relented, hoping that this would be the last time they spoke.

**Flashback On**

Altezza led them to the private area of his father’s hotel restaurant. “What do you want now?” he asked, not pleased.

“Darling, why are you acting like this? You’re not the Altezza I know.”

Jovanka tried to reach for Altezza, but he avoided her touch.

“Al?!” She exclaimed, staring at Altezza with sad eyes.

“What do you mean, acting like what? What kind of Altezza do you know?” Altezza asked flatly. He tried his best to conceal the erratic beating of his heart inside. The feeling was still there, apparently.

“My Altezza was never this cold. He was a friendly and loving man.”Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

“I believe I am still that Altezza. I just reserve that treatment for the right person. Like my wife, for example.”

“I am your wife,” Jovanka replied firmly.

“We’ve been separated for eight months if you’ve forgotten,” Altezza reminded her.

“No. We are not divorced, and I haven’t accepted the separation.”

“Like it or not. Whether you accept it or not, I’ve decided not to reconcile with you.”
