Chapter 128 Break up number two

I shook my head and even if I didn’t want to; I freed myself from his hug. My chest hurt, and my entire body trembled, But even if that was definitely the hardest decision in my life, I didn’t want to share him with anyone, not even if that was about his family’s safety. It took a few minutes for me to look at him. I wiped my tears, but I couldn’t stop them.

He lowered his head and I could see how much it hurt him. I knew he suffered too, and I refused to be with him in his hardest times, but I couldn’t change my mind.

“I be your friend, but nothing more, Gideon. After your family matters have been sorted, I’m happy to meet you again and having a chat, but till then, there could be nothing between us. And now, I want to be alone.”

“Just leave.” I turned my back to him. The silence hurt me already, and I felt like my heart had been tom in two when I heard him walk away and the door closed. The flat remained quiet and empty. I collapsed onto the bed and 1 sobbed. I laid there for hours until I finally stopped crying. Hugging my Inees, I just sat on my bed and I watched the wall.

My other problem was I didn’t know how to tell this to Riccardo. I only hoped that his anger wouldn’t be that bad to find him and make something that would break my heart more. I was sure I would have to make him understand how much his revenge would hurt me.

And about me? I decided to focus on skating only. Skating always made me feel better. That has always been my therapy, so I thought I would train maybe a bit more.

The next day I went to the sports centre earlier. The previous day’s torture was visible on my face, but I didn’t care. I knew I would be only with Beth that day, and probably she would be happy to hear that I broke up with my ex–husband. Again.

When she entered the ice, she skated to me, and she looked at me with a frown.

“Alice, what happened to you? You look like… you are not

looking well.”

I smiled

“I broke up with him yesterday. I’ll be fine.”

Her facial expression changed to a surprised one.

“But Alice, I hope it wasn’t because of yesterday. I didn’t mean to break up with him.”

“Start your program, and focus on the Axel.

I was about to skate to the middle when she held my arm.

“Alice, if you need someone to talk to, you can find me anytime.”

I smiled at her and nodded.

“I know, thank you.”

She smiled back and let my arm go. After skating to the middle, I started, I knew that how much my feelings influence my performance, so I tried to make Gideon disappear from my mind. After losing the one I loved, I felt like I had to reach my dream at least. At the end of the training, Beth praised me, which was surprising, because she never really did that, I smiled at her. I thought she just wanted to cheer me up a bit.

The training with Gareth was okay, too. I thought they both wanted to go easy on me. I was grateful for that. Before I would have left the gym, I asked Gareth to increase my training hours, but he shook his head.

“Alice, have some rest as well. You are training really hard already. You can’t be exhausted. If you aren’t resting, your results are going to get worse. Believe me.”

He caressed my arms gently. I only nodded, What else could I do? I thanked him, and I left. I sat back in my car, and I tried to keep my tears back. My phone woke me up from my daze. For a moment, my heart pounded faster, when I thought maybe Gideon wanted to talk to me. Even if I would have said no to him, I would have been happy to hear his voice. I took my phone, and I saw Alexandra’s name on it. I took a deep breath, and I picked it up. “Alice, have you f

We all went to his room. He locked the door, which made me scared a bit.

He sat on his desk, and probably Alexandra felt my nervousness as she held my hand and gently pulled me to sit down with her on the sofa. I noticed she glanced at Riccardo, quietly telling him to hold himself back.

“Just like you said earlier. That woman, Amber and his father, want to be in business with them, and Amber is after Gideon.”

“Did he cheat on you?”

“No.” I shook my head, trying to show him I’m honest.

I sighed.

“His father forced her to be with her. Not just to be with her, but to marry her. He reconciled with his brother. Seth went to him, to tell him that is an unusual behaviour of Mr. Sullivan. He literally went mad. He even told Seth if he can’t make Gideon get rid of his girlfriend and focus on Amber, then it’s his turn to divorce and let the Adams‘ join the family”

I lowered my head, and I felt Alexandra’s hand caressing my back. Both remained quiet and when I lifted my head, I saw Riccardo and Alexandra frowned.

“He said he must help his family, which I understand. I wouldn’t want any of them to get harmed, but their plan is to make Mr. Sullivan believes he obeys him to earn time to find out what is happening and solve the problem. He told me he wouldn’t touch her. He wants to make her hate him, but what could I do? I didn’t want to be a hidden second option. I just couldn’t do this.”
